You guys remind me of guys who try to convince themselves that some chick that they are with is hot. You have to reallllly squint your eyes to see these comparisons.
Haha, nice. I have to agree with you. I'm not convinced any of these players can develop anywhere near that level.
Although, I do like how universal Gordon's game has reached. I can see him continually getting better every year, like a certain Millsap we know. Although, Gordon has a much better passing game and outside shot. Millsap developed that outside shot but it was so slow that he could only use it when left alone. I'd say for Gordon to study Bird and Magic. Both players were bigger than him but could really handle the ball. Maybe mix some Maravich in there for fun.
I also really like Evans game. He's another player that keeps getting better every year as well as being an intelligent player. He's such a good floor spacer and even a good passer at that high post. The Jazz don't utilize that very well at all. Maybe Evans could study Donyell Marshall's game a bit more and extend his range to the 3-pt line? That would be stellar!
It's too early to tell on some of the new players. However, I like what I've seen from Holiday. He has a nice outside shot and doesn't make any crazy mistakes. Again, it's tough to say for sure because I've only seen the scrimmage and the first game. Listening on the radio doesn't cut it.
Everyone else needs to settle down or they're veterans and we know they can play. Lucas and Jefferson are solid, but how long are we going to keep them if they continue to play well this season?
The point is, I like players who know how to relax and just play their game. They don't worry about the crowd, be it at home or away. They just like to play the game of basketball. I like to call them "gym rats". Stockton & Jordan are the best examples of gym rats. They'd play anywhere with anyone as long as the competition was high. If it wasn't then they'd embarrass you pretty quickly. I can also see players like Hornacek, Magic, Nash, the Barry family, the Curry family, etc, being that way as well. I mention that because I can see guys like Hayward and Evans and maybe Burks being that way more so than others.
Anyway, Go Jazz!
