Cotton Making Life Difficult for Trey Burke

As a Cotton homer, and NOT a Utah Jazz fan, I would really like to see Cotton move to another team. Clearly, Exum is your guy and I believe/know Cotton can be a starter/ significant minutes back-up. With 5 PG's in contention there are plenty of other teams out there that don't have a starting PG none the less a back-up PG.

GTFO then, go to Cottonfanz.com

If there were a team out there that viewed Cotton as a starter or quality backup, he'd have been traded for a decent return long ago. I doubt the Jazz do anything before late in the preseason (barring a no-brainer trade offer).

So the Jazz want to trade someone that is 22, improving, and plays their current weakest position? Makes sense.

Perhaps you should be Cotton's agent? How silly of Cotton to accept the Jazz's offer when we brought him up from the D-League last year. If only the Jazz had left him alone, he could now be playing for the Lakers or the Suns or the Knicks or ... anywhere but here.

@Red
I really don't see a scenario in which Cotton DOESN'T make the roster. Well, a trade for some great veteran, I suppose. Right now, I think it comes down to C. Johnson vs. Millsap for the final roster spot. Jazz will cut Jerrett and eat the guaranteed portion of his salary in order to keep Cooley.

Wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Jazz trade Burke during training camp. They probably want to see how Neto is going to fit in with the veterans and if his skill set can replace Trey's. I like what Cotton brings to the table. He's an exciting player.

Nice article on Cotton in the news feed. Sounds like Cooley agrees with you, Stifle Tower:

“Yeah. I mean, I think the Jazz are going to try to find a way to keep Bryce on this team,” said Cooley, who’s in a similar situation with a nonguaranteed multi-year deal.

“To have a minimum-contract point guard that’s that skilled is an extremely precious thing to have. I think the Jazz front office has some of the smartest guys in the NBA. They’ll figure out a way to make that work.”
