Cougars 2011-12 Football Discussion

With Weber State putting up 39 points and 508 yards of total offense on Idaho State last week, there's a few things I'm just dying to know:

-Can BYU beat those numbers?
-Can they rush for more yards (308) than Weber St. did?
-If they don't, does that mean Weber>BYU?
-Next year when Ron McBride returns to Provo, how hilarious is it going to be when the Wildcats leave with a victory?
-If BYU does indeed manage to lose to Weber in 2012, does all of Provo commit suicide?
-Does Riley Nelson's parents know that he is gay?

Here's a question...

What happens if Riley Nelson leads the Cougs to wins over TCU and Hawaii this year? Both those games should be decently tough (especially the TCU game).

But what happens if he leads the Cougs from here on out?

Can Heaps realistically challenge Nelson for his spot? How ridiculous would this situation turn into if Nelson is benched after leading the Cougs to essentially an undefeated season with himself at the helm? If Heaps sees Nelson lead the Cougs to an undefeated season, does he already get his transfer papers ready?

While everyone in the media seems all concerned over Saint Duron Williams Heaps, I think the Cougs should stick with the guy that's winning. Who gives a damn how much of an arm Heaps has? He doesn't win while Nelson does (if he continues to win for the rest of this season).

It all changes if Nelson gets injured or perhaps loses or looks like dump against a legit opponent. But what happens if he looks good for the rest of this season? What happens if he keeps leading this team to victory?

Just win baby? Or does BYU revert back to Saint Heaps with hopes that he'll "just win baby?"

If Nelson wins out, the job has got to be his to lose next year. If Heaps has a problem with that, he's got some options

* He can work his butt off and try to beat out Nelson next year (this is the one I'm hoping for)
* He can wait until his senior year to start again
* He can ask to redshirt
* He can transfer

My guess is Riley finishes the season strong against weak competition and Heaps transfers. I understand the move to Nelson, but I think it was TERRIBLE timing by BYU coaches. Right now is the exact time Heaps should be playing. He could actually get some confidence against the likes of San Jose St, Idaho St, etc. Instead, coaches had Heaps in there during the toughest part of BYU's schedule and then benched him for the games they were bound to win regardless of who was playing QB.

I think the only way Heaps' career at BYU is salvaged is if Nelson get's injured during the next few games and it is Heaps who leads them to the strong finish. Otherwise, I think the kid bolts.

Finally, something other than morbid stupidity coming out of your filthy sewer.

Anyone who thinks Nelson should be starting is a bonafide retard. *looks at Ogatool* I love Bronco to death and I have a hard time questioning his coaching decisions, but after last years QB debacle and this sideshow B.S., it's getting harder and harder to reign in my loyalty. Starting Nelson is just plain stupid.

So benching players who don't produce while playing the guy who replaces him and produces wins is stupidity? Gotcha.

For the record...I'm not a big Nelson fan. But I'm not convinced Heaps is the Golden Child either.

Think about starting Raja Bell and C.J. Miles over the rookies as an idea. See where I'm going with this? Heaps is the future, not Nelson. Heaps needs to be in there getting minutes/experience, not Nelson. Heaps needs to learn, and he can't do that from the bench.

There. See? I'm never wrong.
