Could the Jazz get the second pick? (not a rumor)

CHA is looking to just add talent. Would an offer of either Al/Paul, Burks, GSW pick, our second this year and the NJ second get this done? Maybe swap out b\Burks and the GSW pick and add Hayward? I think Beal is that scorer we will need to really compete.

David Aldridge: Source: Bobcats have five legit offers they're currently exploring to trade the second pick overall in tonight's NBA Draft

Maybe the Jazz are one of the 5...

Hate to say it Verlin, but I really have zero desire to trade up to the 2. Would much prefer dealing Al for a late-lottery pick, or take up some contracts to land Lillard.

I've been on the bandwagon to get into the top 5. I think this is the kind of deal that give us our best shot. If we could trade our 2013 1st rounder for a pick this year in the low 20's, then I think we'd have a better shot at pulling this off.

Really? Is this sarcasm? If not, why wouldn't you trade up to #2?

I would do Al, Burks, and our pick next year (can we do our pick next year? We would still have GS's pick).

I could be way wrong here, but this is how I think it works: I think as long as you don't go two consecutive years without a 1st round pick, you're OK. The Nets traded their 1st round pick to us last year, and this year they traded theirs to POR, but if you remember they had 2nd 1st round pick last year where they picked up Marshon Brooks. So we could technically trade both our 1st rounder next year and the GS pick as long as we come away from this draft with a 1st rounder.

Once again, I could be wrong, but that's how I've alway thought it works.

Supposedly the Cavs may have offered the 4th and 24th (?) so that could be one offer. I could see Gasol + from the Lakers being another offer. I doubt we're one. Not our m.o.

If The Cavs really are trying to move into the #2 pick they will out bid us easy. With that said I'd kill to get Beal. I think he will be an Allstar.

So, if you are Charlotte, your two best offers are Pau and possibly a pick vs Jefferson and a pick.

I guess it comes down to what you want more. Pau is good for two years, then he is most likely done as your centerpiece. Jefferson could give you 5 more years. Pau is better for shorter, Jefferson isn't quite as good, but will be able to maintain that level longer. The Jazz can offer you a better pick than the Lakers can. The Jazz could also throw Bell in and a second round pick.

Would Pau and a future pick from the Lakers be better than Jefferson, Utah's next year's first, Bell and this year's second?

I think if I was Charlotte, I would take Utah's offer. They have potential to have a better pick next year, Bell is a vet than theoretically could provide some stability to their team, Jefferson is a good PF/C, and they could gain some depth this year with Utah's second pick.

Really? How could the Cav's outbid us? The projected #2 pick has his ceiling at David West. Millsap is better than West. The Cavs have zero players to offer. We can offer Millsap, Jefferson, Burks, Future first's, a second, Bell, etc. We have a lot more to offer than Cleveland does. The question becomes, what is the player that KOC would pick worth to Utah?

I would do Burks and Jefferson in a heartbeat. If I loved some player at #2, I would toss in a future first.

I wouldn't give up any of the Four plus picks and jefferson or millsap when the guy we would pick (beal, mkg, lillard) MIGHT not even be better than burks or hayward. To risky. Like everyone is saying.... after davis there are no sure stars.

to get top-tier talent worthy of contending for titles, you pretty much have to take some risks somewhere along the line.

i've said it before, but if jefferson is all it costs to upgrade a 2013 7-14 pick to a 2012 2-8 pick, the jazz should do that and run. if jefferson + burks allows you to make that upgrade, you have to think about it. why? here's why:

1) a 2-8 pick this year > a 7-14 pick next year (the GS pick)
2) whoever we would pick this year would probably also be better than burks
3) not having al jefferson > having al jefferson, at least in the medium to long term

It would probably have to be something like Burks, Jefferson for Thomas and the pick. If the bobcats would do the g.s. pick and Jefferson for the 2 and Thomas, I'd make that trade
