What's new

Could we have won a ring or two in the 80s if we kept Dominique?

Think about this guys. What if we'd snagged Gordon Hayward then made a trade to get Derrick Favors. Now, imagine if we had somehow drafted Alec Burks, Rudy Gobert and Rodney Hood with later first round picks (I know it's unlikely that all three of these guys slide, but bear with me). What if we somehow added a quality point guard to that mix and also snagged a great development coach. Just think about how epic that could be.
Somebody quote this post with mind blown gif of that weird curly haired dude that looks like is from the 70's

Just to ruin things for jackazzprinze a bit more, if we didn't sell the Nique pick for cash, the Jazz would be somewhere else even before factoring Stock and Malone into it. I'm pretty sure I remember the cash from that transaction keeping the Jazz going. It was a need to trade the pick, not the fact that they didn't want a high pick.

Look here gay I don't think you're being very funny in fact you're just beating a dead horse. Repetitive insults about this post dont make you anymore of a big boy, so go back to your room and don't post anymore like you had been for the past two years.

Having Wilkins changes our draft pick position in all likely hood. We may never get Stockton or Malone.

Well, Atlanta picked Koncak at #5 in the 1985 draft and Kevin Willis at #11 in 1984, so in theory Utah could have simply picked up Malone at #5 instead of #13 and Stockton at #11 instead of #16.

I say, why stop there? Jazz had the rights to Moses Malone too.

Keep Moses, Magic and Dominique. Then draft Stockton and Malone. Dynasty!

Mark Eaton/Moses Malone, Karl Malone, Magic Johnson(point forward), Dominique Wilkins and John Stockton. That's a big, and talented team. If only the Jazz brass could have predicted the future and NEVER traded for Gail Goodrich.

In all seriousness, Dominique would have been amazing teamed up with Stockton and Malone.

The Jazz gave up Magic and Moses for Gail Goodrich??? I know it "saved" the organization, but that has to be up there with the Baby Ruth trade as the worst in history.

Unfortunately, yes. The Jazz traded 3 picks for the right to sign Gail Goodrich. One of those picks was the one the Lakers used for Magic Johnson. And one was returned to the Jazz when they gave up the rights to Moses Malone and he could go into the ABA expansion draft - ending up in Houston.

"Malone's NBA rights had previously been held by the New Orleans Jazz, but the NBA let them place Malone into the draft pool in exchange for the return of their first-round draft pick in 1977, which they used to trade for Gail Goodrich."
