Cousins

BOX , you are thinking just like me.....

What it all comes down to ...sloan needs to go.

Anybody see Brewer's dunk last night? ( no headbands allowed )

Are you going to link this or just throw some quotations around some quote you pulled out of your ***? If they were going for Cousins that would have been the boldest move this club ever has made considering how the everyone would have said "Demarcus is not a Jazz system guy" and his bad atittude would never fit in Utah. Seems the Jazz are always chasing inferior talent to mesh with the system.

Yeah that's right, I pull quotes out of my *** to make you look stupid. It's not like this was some big secret.

It's not exactly common knowledge either. The only thing most of us found was that the Jazz were in love with Greg Monroe. That line you quoted came from a secondary source (bleacherreport, which bled to a few other sites as a regurgitated article). I'm not calling you out, I would just like to see some real evidence that the Jazz were trying to move to get him. I saw nothing then - and in the 10 minutes I've spent to find the evidence someone should've provided at some point - I haven't found anything to suggest that the Jazz tried to move up to grab Cousins.

So please, enlighten us.

I believed it was common knowledge. I definitely remember hearing a lot about the potential trade-up for Cousins during the draft. It's a little difficult to pin down, because draft rumors that didn't materialize seem to get sort of nebulous over time, in terms of internet searches. I definitely remember radio chatter about it, just like I remember David Locke being very much in love with Greg Monroe. Fairly weak, but here's what I've come up with:

An article at the Deseret News that made no reference to a possible trade, but indicated that the Jazz wanted Cousins: https://www.deseretnews.com/article/700042810/Utah-Jazz-would-draft-Cousins-if-he-slid-to-No-9.html

A casual reference in this bleacher report piece that I think is interesting for the almost off-hand way that it is mentioned, as if it was common knowledge: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/411196-utah-jazz-gordon-hayward-pick-brings-out-boo-birds

Another bleacher report article that references, without giving sources, again as if it was common knowledge at the time, that Utah was trying heavily to move up in the draft: https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-likely-to-draft-up-and-who-theyll-pic#page/2

Not exactly the satisfying and clear result I was hoping for in my brief search, but I think it at least supports that there was talk at the time both about the Jazz being interested in Cousins, and about the Jazz trying to move up in the draft. I'd be willing to bet that we had threads about it on the old board with better references to articles and radio talk than I've unearthed here...

I remember it so clearly!

I saw the quote from KOC in Bleacher Report and also remember one of the ESPN guys, Hollinger or Ford, describing how creative KOC had been in trying to move up for Cousins. I think it was in response to question in an online chat. He was also quoted in the Tribune, saying the Jazz had tried very hard to move up, although in the Trib article he didn't say who they were trying to move up for.

You are so full of it! Done with you.

Don't throw a tantrum there Box.

First of all, I didn't do anything with reps unsigned or otherwise. My guess is that when you submit posts like the two above there are other people here who think you sound like an immature halfwit. But that's just a guess.

Second, the Bleacher Report quote is one more quote than you provided for your contention that the Jazz were trying to move up for Monroe. Here's another though to support my memory of the Chad Ford statement.

This is from Travis at Utah Jazz 360. "Chad Ford (ESPN) has said that the Jazz tried fervently to trade picks with the Nets at #3 but couldn’t get a deal done".

Third, if you have a problem with me please feel free to use the ignore feature.

Cousins is a beast. He will doubtless absolutely blow up in seasons to come. But not to fret, man. We have Gordan Heyword. He'll doubtless give us a few points and a few hustles here and there for seasons to come. So it's a wash, really.

Cousins wouldn't have fit in the Sloan straightjacket.
