So 48 players tested positive for Covid on the initial screening

It will be quite interesting to see how the season goes from the start. Feel like lots of players will be missing games. Plenty will be cancelled, and this will be quite the mess compared to the bubble.

Also on fans just wondering everyone’s opinions. Just curious, do you think that allowing even the small number of fans at games is reversed? I kinda feel like it should be considered, especially if our positivity rate/case rate continues as is. League wife I wonder if it’s reversed and I wonder how many arenas will allow fans at season start. So far 3 have said they plan on allowing fans, we are one. I would hope they reconsider if things stay the same and most arenas don’t plan on it. At minimum don’t be serving drink and food, and masks mandatory at all times. Warriors planned on 50% capacity with rapid testing, but were denied by SF council.

I wonder what the total number is of players have had it so far since March. I know there were at least 15 - 20 guys who acknowledged testing positive before.

I personally think fans in the arenas is a silly idea given how things are looking right now. Maybe in the spring if things are looking better.

When the mlb season started there were a lot of players and teams being decimated by Covid. Everyone began to speculate the season could be canceled, but Covid after a short time became less of an issue. I suspect the same will happen in the nba.

Well that’s a good point.
Obviously the priority should be to ensure the safety of everyone, so from my point of view it could be really wrong trying to act precipitously. Too many imponderable consequences IMO.
Even though having empty and desolate arenas is clearly unfavorable for quite everyone (players, owners, workers and also fans), I’m deeply convinced that the best move they can do it’s taking a moment to study and analyze carefully how the situation is evolving once the season starts.
Then, according to what they’ll find out, making the right decision.

Regarding players, at the beginning IMO it’s highly likely that they’ll find it a bit weird and controversial...I mean, teams that will lose games because of lack of players due to COVID, the apparently unfairness of the season, players and teams that wish some games were postponed or cancelled (btw, I’m pretty sure that no games or at least a very few games will be deleted from the schedule),...
But after a period of huge disorientation I’m quite sure that, except for the empty arenas, the league will be able to find the right path, without too many problems related to COVID.

What are the guidelines for postponing games?

Number of players infected? On one team? Both teams?

I know you have to dress at least 8 but imagine they've made some specific parameters for Covid.

One thing is players getting infected but if they are going to be in quarantine every time after they were just exposed to someone with covid it may really mean a lot of absences. Tests may detect it only 7-9 days after the contact.

And every.... single...player... will be fine. Just like a vast majority of infected will be.

The season will have plenty of missing pieces and cancellations but it will be fine as well.

Tell that to Mo Bamba or Karl Anthony Towns. smd.

Every single player will be fine is hyperbole.
You should use the word most, rather than every single.

If you have gigantic lungs then you will breathe the air from everyone in a room. I think Dok, Favors are at risk.

Science Friday spoke about how the US has pre-ordered enough vaccinations to provide serum to every person in the US 3 times.

I don't know what role vaccines will play but I expect that as they become available the NBA will pay what it must to vaccinate players and staff and maintain a stock of vaccinations to handle its own population "3 times over".

There were clearly questions of whether holding is ethical, and of ethnicity, poverty line distribution gaps, etc. But I am confident the NBA will do what they can to "dose up" which should play a role in the league cancelations.

While this isn’t true, especially for vulnerable family members, it’s also a reality most of us have faced in having to go to work for the past 9 months. Two things can be true. There are very very valid concerns, and also yes most will be fine and if you want the money/job you’re going to have to take the risks it takes to do the job even during a pandemic like 90% of us have had to do all year as well to make a living.

Can you provide examples of any players who won't? I seen Bol Bol is having complications but it's not like it's life or career endangering.
There ya go. You just named one
Now had you said every single player won't die then maybe that would be accurate.
Bol bol hasn't been fine. He been really sick.
