The more you post, the more it becomes obvious you just haven't been watching basketball.

good one, I see how you got your name.

Not sure why anyone who posts regularly on here wouldnt be someone who watches BB regularly since this is a board for passionate Jazz Basketball fans. But I guess you assume otherwise which always turns out well.

Honestly wish I watched less basketball since I have to watch quite a bit for work.

You have to watch quite a bit for work? Are you like a scout? You can Rep me your answer if you don't want to make it public.

Defensive stats are not terrible good to me, dont tell you enough about the individual. Team stats for defense are helpful. According to the stat you just gave me Khris is the same as Korver who I would not deem an elite defender. They both play well on a team defense and rotate well but neither are good man to man defenders. They have the same problem, not athletic enough or quick enough laterally to stay in front.

His DWS shows he is in good company. He is a top 20 player in that category just like Big Al who is an elite defender this year right?

Once again, his opponents shooting percentage against him doesn't have that much to do with his teammates. I'm using multiple stats together to show you he's a good defender, not just one that can easily be taken out of context. If you really think he's a bad defender, then you don't know basketball sir.

Anyways, let's get back to the team concept. You know, the one where Hack said his strategy is to play a ball movement type offense with Irving and Martin. Laughable. Ludicrous. And you all fell for it.

Im going with hacks team even though i hate kevin martin. Shabazz or super mario would hopefully take alot of martins minutes.

Probably toughest match of the first round

Trusting a rookie, even one who has played overseas, to play significant minutes in a playoff scenario is super risky.

Ya, I don't like Martin, bazz, or lavine playing big minutes but I like the rest of his team and figure maybe the three of those guys together could do an adequate job

All defensive stats show a team concept and not an individual. Plenty of defenders show good stats across the board when playing with a good team defense, such as the players I provided examples of. If you think he is an elite defender at his position than I think you have not watched him play very much in his career.

Well then clearly you don't know what you're watching. And yes, team defense does play a big role. Just so happens I've got a very good ovetall team defense. Westbrook, Porter, Middleton are all at the very least above average, and Ibaka is elite. Every single statistic says that your eye test is wrong. That's why we have stats, to validate or disprove what our eyes see.

I have worked at a scout but not for basketball and I dont do that anymore. My work is in the field of Sports Performance although I wear a few hats such as a being an adjunct professor.

I work with athletes at all levels including NFL and NBA but the majority of athletes I work with are high school age since that is the most profitable group to work with and where I can have the greatest impact.

Defensive stats are terrible at distinguishing the individual. And stats dont validate or disprove what your eyes see, they can be used along side everything else to help draw a clearer picture. But you think he is an elite defender that is okay by me, I just disagree after watching him play for some time and so do a lot of others who have watched him play throughout his career. But it looks like you have done your research with stats on him and I respect that.

You do have a good team defense, outside of Bosh and Middleton they are all above average and Ibaka is elite. He does have two elite defenders in Favors and Davis that will make the whole team look decent on defense. Kyrie and Martin are below average defenders but can play riskier defense with Favors and Davis inside. I do think whoever Bosh is guarding is going to demand help from someone else which will open things up on the perimeter. Westbrook will be able to get create well against irving but his efficiency wont be good enough to overcome the elite play of Davis.

You can go on thinking that Middleton is below average, I'll go ahead and take Zach Lowe's opinion over yours. Watching basketball is kind of his job.

Why do you hate Martin. He's a really good scorer. Check out some of his box scores even after he came back from injury.

He's always been about 40% shooter from 3. That's all I need him for. Just space the floor and hit 3's so Derrick and Davis can do all the damage.

Bosh and Ibaka aren't stopping Davis and Favors. More like the other way around.
