I don't agree that defense wins championships in the NBA but it helps. But even then it's not like I'm lacking defense. I have 3 really good defenders starting, some of the best at their positions.

Defense alone won't solely win you championship but championship teams almost always play high level defense. Here are recent NBA champs with their defensive efficiency rankings followed by their offensive rankings. I went back as far as I could find.

Warriors-1st / 1st
Cavs-9th / 3rd
Warriors-1st / 2nd
Spurs-3rd / 3rd
Heat-7th / 1st
Heat-4th / 5th
Mavs-9th / 5th
Lakers-6th / 10th
Lakers-4th / 4th
Celts-1st / 10th
Spurs-2nd / 5th
Heat-9th / 7th
Spurs-1st / 7th
Pistons-2nd / 16th

Yeah, I don't disagree with that. That's why I have a team with the best rim protector in the NBA an excellent defensive pg. Then I have the Greek freak who is an excellent defender and one of the most versatile defenders. I also have some solid defenders on the bench. Crabbe is a decent defender as well.

Pretty damn close.

I think what it comes down to for me is the Whiteside/Serge > Embiid/Galinari. Because of that I went with Addy.

Due to injury concerns of Embiid/Gallinari it because you just think Whiteside/ibaka are better?

I wanted to draft ibaka but he was taken a pick before my turn by Addy. Mostly I wanted him because people think highly of him and remember him with OKC. But he is not that good any more.

Yeah I mean he is not what he was of course, but still possesses the threat of rim protection. But I really wanted to pick him, don't really care if ppl like or not. I just liked the idea of him and Whiteside together, while Butler-Bradley-Rubio was accompanying them. And when they are benched the sub is always a very good defender. Gonna struggle on O sure, but gonna kick *** and chew bubblegum on D. I call this team Team Bitch Slap. They will need ice for their palms after the games.

Going for reg season record tbh.

Yeah I'm projecting Embiid to miss at least 1-2 games of a 7 game series due to injury concerns. Also I don't think Gallinari starting at the 4 is gonna get the job done against Ibaka.

Fair enough. I think he will be healthy next year but that's just a guess. Any player could go down, it's all a guess. Can't argue with your guess that he has injuries next season.

As far as ibaka goes I think that's a huge advantage for Gallinari. Ibaka is just a jump shooter on offense so that's an easy guard for Gallinari. I think it's a really good matchup for me. Gallinari isn't a good defender so it works out well that's it's not someone who is a threat on offense for him to guard. On the other end ibaka can't chase around Gallinari. Ibaka is too slow to chase him around and it lessens his rim defense.

This ones close again. On a bright note even if I lose I think the people who voted for me are the better group of posters than who voted for Addy. Much smarter and interesting group of folks. :D

Ibaka can shoot threes and long 2s. That is it for him on offense. Ask anything else of him and he will struggle. Wings can guard him just fine. He also does not rebound well nor is his defense that good anymore, except his blocking ability is okay.

Gallinari and Ibaka shoot about the same percentage from three but Gallinari shoots more. Their rebounding is not that far off from each other either. Gallinari can pass and handle the ball fairly well. The amount he can do on offense is much greater. I am not sure Ibaka could guard him. Gallinari also turns the ball over less than Ibaka somehow as well. I am not sure you can argue Ibaka is a better player. He might be a better fit for a team I guess.

Also Gallinari and Ibaka are the same height and the weight is pretty close. Ibaka isnt really going to overpower him.

Gallinari scored 18.2 PPG on .622 TS%. Those are really good numbers. He is an excellent secondary scorer.

Ricky Rubio

vs

Kemba Walker

Is this one close for people? Is it the Jazz player love? I dont think these two players are in the same conversation. Kemba is a much better player. Maybe people dont watch him much since he is an East coast player. How many other PGs score over 20 ppg (Kemba scored 23.2 ppg) and play really good defense?

Kemba is the 6/7th best PG in the NBA. I am not sure where I would rank Ricky but not in the top 10 right now.

It looks like Addy wins the tie breaker. I think he has more people from the competition voting for him. I didnt count but that is what my quick scan says.

Well done Addy, I hope you win the rest!
