Team Eminence:

PG - Eric Bledsoe / Ricky Rubio
SG - James Harden / Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
SF - Jae Crowder / Robert Covington
PF - Draymond Green / Kyle Anderson
C - Steven Adams / Kelly Olynyk

Team addictionary:

PG - John Wall / Patrick Beverly
SG - Zach LaVine / Kyle Korver
SF - Danilo Gallinari / Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
PF - Kristaps Porzingis / Kenneth Faried
C - DeMarcus Cousins / Enes Kanter

Eminence's Case:

I’ll explain my team by going through each players role on the team by pick order:

Draymond- Defensive anchor/heart of the team. Draymond is the perfect #2 guy. Best defender in the league (16.4 DFGA at -6.1% per NBA.com), good floor spacer (38.8% from 3 per basketballreference), and a great secondary passer (7th in the league in assists at only 18.8% usage). His drive will keep everyone on the team engaged and going 100%. ~40 mpg mostly at PF, can slide to C for smallball.

Harden- Offensive superstar. As capable of carrying an offense as anyone in the league (2nd in points, 6th in assists). Comes the closest to Steph in replicating the deadly Curry/Green PnR, with less pulling up from 35 and more driving to the hoop. ~40 mpg at SG, but will always be the primary ballhandler.

Bledsoe- Secondary playmaker/backcourt compliment to Harden. A high-motor PG who’s used to playing next to another primary ballhandler from all those years in Phoenix. Very good defender to take assignments from Harden. ~35 mpg all at PG, pretty much all with Harden.

Crowder- Wing defender and another high energy guy. As strong a 3 as there is in the league, good defender, can hit an open shot, his job is basically to be a mini-Draymond. Play hard. ~35 mpg, mostly at SF, with some time at PF during smallball.

Adams- Be big and physical. Grab boards and protect the rim. A player I’m expecting to see take a couple step forwards in his age 23 season. ~30 mpg all at C.

Rubio- Run the offense for the few minutes Harden is off and play defense. ~10 mpg at PG, usually with KCP as his backcourt partner.

KCP- Play defense and hit open shots. One of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA nobody talks about. ~15 mpg mostly at SG with Rubio, will occasionally see time at “PG” alongside Harden.

Anderson- Be the secondary playmaker for the 2nd unit after Rubio. ~10 mpg at PF similar to Diaw.

Olynyk- Floor spacing big man (40.5% from 3), an underrated defender he can get the job done on that end as well. ~15 mpg at C.

Covington- 3 and D wing, has some size to allow us to play small ball with a 3/4/5 of Covington/Crowder/Draymond if needed. ~10 mpg at the SF spot.

Matchup Specifics vs. Addictionary:

Wall/Beverley
Korver/Lavine
Gallinari/MKG
Porzingis/Faried
Cousins/Kanter

I like the Wall/Cousins combo surrounded by shooters. Don’t like the lack of secondary playmaker behind Wall. And Lavine is terrible, one of the worst players in the NBA to get minutes (421st out of 462 by ESPN’s RPM), total bonehead on the basketball court, anytime he has the ball in his hands is a win for us.

I feel like we match-up well with his stars, Bledsoe is one of the few PG’s in the league that can match Wall’s athleticism and keep up, and when he goes to the bench Rubio comes in to keep Wall held down. Cousins meanwhile will have Adams on him to match his strength/toughness. Additionally Cousins has shown susceptibility to guys getting under his skin and Adams is one of the most annoying guys in the NBA.

Meanwhile I feel our offense through Harden faces no serious roadbumps from his defense, Korver especially will have himself seriously pushed to keep up with any of Bledsoe/Harden/Crowder. The Harden/Green PnR should feast on whoever tries to cover it (no elite PnR defending bigs).

Overall I feel Team Eminence has a slight advantage talent wise and matchups push it even further in our direction. 4-1 Team Eminence.

Probably my two favorite teams. I'll have to think about it and vote later. Not sure I want to go with my initial gut reaction (mostly due to NOT liking one particular individual.)

Really tough one here. I like the pairing of porz and cousins too much. Plus I love wall.
Addictionary gets my vote.

I think Eminence takes this easily.

Having LaVine and Gallo as starters is no Bueno. LaVine is a subpar player right now. Porz shouldn't be a starter either.

Emmince.

Add has a cool team, but most of them suck *** on defense and his 3/4/5 are big and slow, which isnt a great fit with Wall.

Not a fan of Em's bench. Rubio/KCP/Covington are all wildly inefficient scorers, but they can play defense.

Dang... I really really don't like the idea of Addy starting Lavine over Korver. Korver is a decent defender and brings a lot of value with his spacing (especially next to Wall), while Lavine is terrible on D and has no where near the off-ball value of Korver.

I think that makes it even more clear.

You are right I should have started Korver to matchup against Harden on D-matchups. But then again, same thought with LaVine. I would enjoy Zach moving around Harden while there is much space inside because of superior shooting bigmen as Harden acts like he has been trapped by Mafia with cement on his feet waiting to get dropped to the sea.

If I can advance, I will tell Porzy, Faried and Wall to bitchslap your entire team whenever they try to shoot.

Still tied. I wonder if addictionary votes for himself to break the tie. I'm assuming he'd want to win his first round matchup.
