Damian Lillard?

Like stitches said, Damian suxxxxx at D. He'd be an expensive designated hitter.

He'd be good on our team still though, because we have good post defenders.

The question is for what price.

Surely not Hayward and Exum. That's way too much.

I'd say no to Hayward, Favors, or Gobert.

I'd have to think about Exum. Am I giving away a superior player? Exum could become an astounding two player, and he's a lot bigger.

Anyone else on the team I'd throw in a trade, but within reason.

Damn you guys suck as GM'S

There is a very good argument that you wouldn't trade Hayward straight up for Lillard. I know I wouldnt.
Damn you suck

I really like Lillard, all my buddies are Blazer fans and brag about how good he is. However the kid is overrated. He is a really good offensive PG but sucks pretty bad on D. Lillard does have his clutch moments, but did anyone notice how he disappeared against Memphis in the playoffs?
I doubt he will be able to carry Portland as the lone star, maybe Portland would be willing to trade him but I doubt it. Even then it'd take a lot to get him. I don't wanna trade Exum for Lillard, Exum is already a great defender.

I wouldn't. No question. Point guard is loaded and wings are a commodity. That alone Hayward>Lillard.

Yeah but Hood gonna be better than Hayward, so stay with Hood and Hayward or with Lillard and Hood? I go with the latter thank you.

last season, Dlil had a better defRtg than Exum (105 vs 109), and 6'3'' is short for a pg now?

have you actually ever watched a game and seen him play "defense" ? He did an awesome disappearing act for the last third of the season and playoffs. Overrated Nice player but he aint taking a team to the promised land

I went to Weber state during his tenure. I've seen plenty. I've also seen how much a system impacts defence, far more than an individual. His athleticism and size show nothing that indicates he couldn't be effective in the right system.

I doubt they would consider moving him as he is still young, but it would take an absurd package to bring him in.

Probably Exum, Hood, multiple picks as a starting point.
Im thinking Exum and Favors and a **** ton of picks

Or how about Exum Hood and Hayward and Burks. I like that better. Not sure Lill will take us to a title. As we stand we are one lucky Break away from a title. Maybe that's one of Hayward Favors hood Burks or Exm becoming a star or we get lucky in the draft or a trade or something. I just don't feel Lill is the answer.

so it's fair to say you're a little biased ?

Imo, people are over-thinking this. Yes, Lillard is limited defensively, but he is also 24 years old, under contract long-term, & a prolific scorer. Yes, Exum has the potential to become a great two-way player, but he is also far from a guarantee to reach that potential, as well as far away from reaching his potential, if he in fact does so. As much as I believe in Exum, he is highly unlikely to ever develop into the caliber of offensive player that Lillard currently is. When evaluating our roster & taking team needs into consideration, a primary scoring option has to be near the top of the list.

One of the benefits to having an elite defensive frontcourt is that you have the luxury of hiding a defensive liability, & considering the offensive skill-set that Lillard would bring, I believe that his impact on offense would outweigh any defensive deficiencies that would come along with him. While I agree that Hayward is currently the better player between the two (because of his two-way ability), I would make that trade due to Hayward's contract situation as well as the presence of Hood. I'm not sure it would make much sense for POR, but trading Hayward for Lillard could bring the offensive/defensive balance necessary to transform this team into a legitimate championship contender. Exum + Hayward is way too much, but Hayward + another minor asset or 2 would be a great trade for us, imo.

Maybe something along the lines of:
Trd: Hayward/Burke/OKC 1st/Booker (if necessary for salary cap purposes)
Rec: Lillard

PG: Lillard/Neto/Cotton
SG: Exum/Burks/Millsap
SF: Hood/Ingles
PF: Favors/Booker/Lyles
C: Gobert/Pleiss

I know this is likely irrelevant as I'm sure POR will instead attempt to build around Lillard &, if for whatever reason they decide not to, are unlikely to trade within the division, I could see that team being top 5-10 offensively & top 5 (if not better) defensively. I love Hayward, but his opt-out clause is something that can't be ignored, & pairing Lillard with Gobert would give us a young superstar on both sides of the ball. The trade may delay our ascent to contention for another year, but it could ultimately set us up for long-term success & an opportunity to win multiple championships.
