What's new

Damn .. Rondo

Some thoughts from tonight's game:

1) Rondo looks to pass, almost to a fault. I see incidences where a defender would back off him and he's still not willing to shoot it. Boston has Allen, Pierce and Garnett who are great shooters with range - so he's a good fit there. Question how he would do on our team where our shooting - especially 3pt shooting - has been very inconsistent.

2) With great character leaders in Doc, Pierce, Allen and Garnett - we still hear about Rondo's fitting in issues. How will he do if he's in a team where there are no established leaders (let's say we don't keep Jefferson/Millsap).

3) Still question his ability to create his own shot off the dribble.

4) Not sure how his 'non-serious' demeanor will go down here in Utah (i.e., his tip off trickery is just pointless IMO).

I know quality PG is scarce at the moment in the NBA, but I still question his fit here with the Jazz.

No. "yes" meaning I didn't even read the post but just wanted to re-affirm my love of Rondo to the Jazz.

Are you kidding me? The guy made a half dozen passes tonight that I haven't seen from a Utah Jazz player all season - wrapped around another half dozen hustle plays that you might see from the entire Jazz Team in a game.

And about him fitting in - Jazz should only have that problem.

Let's see. It was a game 7. I only got to watch the 4th. Rondo pulled down at least 3 critical boards, hit every shot they forced him into, made his free throws, and played champ style defense. He did have an awful unforced turnover too to be fair. But Rajon was forced into about 3 shots and he made them all. It was what the Philly D wanted, he just made them. If that's not clutch I don't know what is.

What about this performance was there to doubt? I didn't get to see the first 3 qs.

Yeah, that was my gut feeling too. What if we threw in the Warriors pick and got their 1st in return?

I don't know .. obviously closer. I think Rondo is about as good of trade bait as exists .. especially as the teams feel there are more aging PG's than there are up and comings.

Would you guys do Harris and Kanter for Rondo? Would they?

If I was KOC and I was offered this deal, the question I would be asking is "Is Rondo ready to step up to be a leader or a veteran presence in a young team".

Can he? Would he be willing? What happens when things get tough & go south?

There's no point mortgaging the house by trading away Kanter, only to get someone who ended up whining & complaining once they start losing (cough*DWill*cough). What impact would that have on our young core?
