Dante Exum Averages .2 Steals Per Game

And just what do you think his value is, at his salary, around the league?
It's negative! If he were on his rookie deal, yeah, maybe a team would take a flier on him because he was a high pick who had some potential. But now, what team is going to take on his deal? It's likely Lindsey would need to entice a team to take Exum by throwing in a pick. Unless the Jazz need cap room to sign a top tier FA, why would Lindsey do that?

If he keeps playing 0-5 minutes a night, his value around the league will be pretty low. However, I think almost any player can be traded. Exum is making around $10 million which really isn't that bad for his defense, size, athleticism, and potential. And remember, the salary cap goes up $7 million this summer. Teams like Orlando, Phoenix, Atlanta, Cleveland and others are not free agent destinations and might be willing to take a chance on a guy like Exum.

We might not get value back, but I firmly believe we could trade or unload Exum (should that have to be the case) before the deadline.

Well of course, but not for free. Someone would take Exum + 1st for nothing. Probably.

I don't believe that. We don't have to send a 1st to unload Exum. I'd be willing to bet that the following trades are possible:

Exum and a 2nd to Phoenix for Bender and Daniels - the Suns are desperate and reportedly after Fultz and Ntilikina. Exum is the same type player but the Suns wouldn't have to spend a 1st to get him. And at $10 million, Exum fits their financials the next few years.

Exum and a 2nd to Atlanta for one of their expirings - Atlanta is playing the long game. Exum is the type guy you throw next to Trae Young because he will defend and not take shots.

Exum and a 2nd to Orlando for Jerian Grant and Jonathon Simmons - Exum fits their profile as a young, athletic, long player with potential.

Exum to the Cavs for Jordan Clarkson or JR Smith or maybe even George Hill - Cleveland would do the 1st two deals in a second. For us, the contracts aren't as long and for Cleveland they get somebody with potential. If you are worried about his contract, this deal sheds his 3 year deal. We would never do this though but proves the point that we don't have to shed a 1st to dump Exum's entire deal.

Exum and a 2nd to Brooklyn for Dudley or Faried - I can see Brooklyn taking a chance on Exum. What do they have to lose? They have already groomed guys like Dinwiddie, Harris, etc.

It's not like Exum is Luol Deng or Joakim Noah. He still represents youth and potential paired with size and athleticism.

Look it's time to move on. Quin really did a poor job with Dante. As a coach u supposed to give confidence. He never did. Starting out in previous years by been pulling him out with every mistake. That all plays effect. Young kids come into the league to play through mistakes. All the top draft picks get that chance. He was never given this opportunity. He was playing really good early in the season scoring in double figures in most games. The turning point was that Boston game he had a bad 2 minute stretch and was pulled for the rest of the game. With Dantes track record with quin being pulled so many times in previous years. I think that was the turning point. I believe he thought quin wouldn't do that this season. Dante has to improve alot and put on 30 pounds. But under Snyder it's not possible. Irrespective of what everyone thinks it's time to move on.
Lol. Snyder has been Exums biggest fan. Despite consistent ****** play has always given him opportunities he didn't deserve. If you like Exum, you should be praising Snyder.

He did start half the games his rookie season. But he was told to stand in the corner and just defend. That's not encouraging a player to improve.... Look if u all think bout it u must think quin hasn't been good for Dante right?
Snyder was begging Exum to do more. Always wanted him to be more aggressive. Standing in the corner doing nothing was all Exum.

Is there anyone on this forum that thinks quin has been a good coach for Dante?
Not just good, but great. Problem is Exum sucks at playing basketball. Quin has done everything he could, given him every opportunity- but at a certain point, if a dude can't play, you give it up. After 4 years, Snyder finally got a clue. Can't believe the patience he had with that stiff. I guess You draft a guy fifth you have more patience than you would normally have with other guys.
