As opposed to what? I highly doubt his offer from another team would be under $8-$9 mill a year. The Jazz have the flexibility. Hopefully it’s front loaded or there’s a team option on the last year. They kept the agent and player happy, looked good to others and may have spent $1-3 million per more than the floor offer they were going to have to match. Now the offer is by their terms. Hopefully he structured it front heavy so ou are only paying $8-9 by the third year or a team option to get rid of the 3rd year althogether if it doesn’t work out. Tbh I think if you weren’t expecting something like this you were kidding yourself. He made $6 mill last season, it wasn’t going down.
 
Last winter I suggested $10 million/year for Dante, a figure that was scoffed at by many on this board. It looks like I was underselling his value to the organization.
 
If I'm being completely honest, I think we overpaid on both Exum and Favors.

well we had money left to spend. worst case favors will not come back next year. burks will be gone next year. maybe we overpaid them for this year. but we are not getting any high caliber player this year anyway. we will be in good shape in 2019 summer
