Dante Exum says he and George Hill went up against each other in scrimmage, didn't play together

This place makes me laugh. I bet it would shock some of you if I told you the teams in practice are always switching up. I know its crazy sounding but "set teams" in practice does not exist. A coach will switch up to punishpeople, to scout an opposing team better, and other reasons.

I bet it would shock some that the earth's rotations causes the sun to appear to rise in the east and set in the west. I know it is crazy but the sun is not actually traveling across the sky.

When someone tries to educate with second grade facts, it is a good sign you are talking to a first grader.

I really think some you guys are putting too much faith in Exum to make a difference right now. He is just a puppy and is coming from a major injury. I'm not sure he is even going to outplay Neto and Mack. His first season was historically bad offensivelly and he hasn't play competitive games in a year. I highly doubt, for instance, that he is going to be anywhere near consistent with his outside or "mid-range to outside" shooting and from looking at him during the media day I had the impression that he still is not strong enough to finish inside. Does he still has potential despite the knee injury? Sure he does and I'm rooting for him, but I think he will start to be a real factor only one year from now.

he's unlikely to be terrific to start the season but there's every chance he'll be a good contributor by midway through the season.

Maybe, but Dante was a real factor two seasons ago. I think he will be a real factor this year. Luckily with Hill, Mack and Neto, Dante will be able to ease back into things. Dante gets way more playing time once he settles in though. The future is now.

Actually improving his set shot is the one area where he probably is going to do well with as it was all he could do, basketball wise, for a few months during rehab. I think I saw somewhere where his teammates commented on it. Having nothing to do but throw up shot after shot with professional coaching, especially at a young age, isn't going to hurt a bit.

It is just that he seem both so raw and afraid of contact that made me think that him not developing into an all-star at all is a distinct possibility. He's quick, long, a good ballhandler for his size and unselfish, but without ways to score consistently he may end up having, let's say, a Brian Shaw type of career.

So, let me ask you guys here: what do you guys think that Exum will average on the best season of his career?

I'm going with 12 points (on 10 shots), 8.5 assists, 4 boards, 2 steals and 0.7 blocks per game, along with 3 turnovers and a FG percentage of 43.

Well there is a good reason he appeared raw and afraid of contact, he was very young and his body was very undeveloped. I don't think it's fair to look at that as an indicator for his whole career.

Let's not forget that the mantra back then was to forget about his first year and treat his second year as his rookie season.

Not just a winning team, but a team with an historically good defense. Stats don't always tell the whole story, and in this case, they certainly don't show that Exum understood his role and was able to contribute to a winning team by playing that role.

Now of course there is a legitimate concern about how well he'll recover from his injury, but let's not keep dwelling on how bad a project was offensively in his rookie year, when most projects would have a hard time contributing to a winning team right away, let alone contribute as a starter.

As someone who comes across as an exum hater, posts like yours make a lot of sense and make me more optimistic about him.
