Honestly, I think the Jazz seriously played some mind games with orlando by letting everyone know that they were going to take gordon at 5. Orlando panicked a bit and went with Gordon instead. After that happened, the Jazz came out with a 'all according to plan' faces. lol

I'm confused... Orlando picks right before utah, and if utah doesn't say they want Gordon, then Orlando doesn't pick Gordon? Did they think they could get him at 12? That doesn't make sense. Now, if Orlando's second pick had been 6, right after the jazz then that makes sense.

I might have been concerned had they taken smart instead. Workouts have to be the most overrated part of draft analysis. Yi and darko killed it in workouts. The reason Sacramento chose Evans over curry was Evans killed him in a workout.

The jazz took a risk and the risk to reward was appropriate at #5. Btw this kid isn't kanter. His dad played pro ball... He already has probably twice as much court time as kanter has seen.

I don't think Cleveland worked out Exum. There was a rumor of a "day of draft" workout, but I don't think that materialized.

There is a perk (I think they are actually called signature skills) called "Lebron James Coast to Coast" in NBA 2K14 and Danté Exum has it.

IMO it's just because he was "Too much of a mystery" Cleveland couldn't handle another draft like last year and either Wiggins or Parker are about as close to a sure thing you could get. Same with the Bucks. Then I think the 76ers realized they weren't getting Wiggins so they just went all in for the tank again next year. Orlando I'm not sure why they didn't take him unless they absolutely loved Gordon when he worked out and DL just over-hyped him by bringing him back for a second workout. Then there is us. Why not swing for the fences. We don't have a all-star and with Exum only being 18 and already with the height and speed you take the chances and pray he turns into a great PG (or SG) by year 2 or 3. It's going to take some time with him but I have I hopes IF he develops correctly. I think DL had Exum higher than Parker/Wiggins on his board and is the Houdini when it comes to smoke screens

1. Cleveland has Kyrie Irving who they're going to MAX. Thompson is a decent, if not great, PF. Waiters has been a giant PITA and Deng will be leaving so they need to replace a wing. BPA is also biggest need. Wiggins was a no-brainer.
2. Milwaukee needs everything BUT a PF (they have Giannis). I GUESS Parker is a SF, but let's see at 255 lbs if he can keep up with opponents.
3. Philadelphia. They're tanking the decade and planning to contend in 2025. I feel sorry for their "vet" (Thadeus Young) and for their season ticket holders. I fully expect them to set the all-time record for losing, which the franchise held for almost 30 years before conceding to Charlotte (based on losing percentage). Justice? Philly wins 6 games, but gets jumped by Cleveland AND two other teams in the lottery.

youre right, i read somewhere that he's been playing since 4 yrs old or so. Big difference between he and kanter.

PHI elected to prolong their tank drafting Embiid who won't play next year at all. His back is suspect, now this season-long injury . He started playing basketball very late. Sure he almost certainly would have gone #1 if it had not been for the injury but this guy is much riskier than any other person and #3 was huge.

ORL was extremely bold with their draft night decisions; picks and trades. I am not a big fan of Aaron Gordon.. Using #4 for him? WOW! That's crazy. He might have been available at #12, ORL's next pick. Then they sold the farm to draft up and get Elfrid Payton, hottest riser on the mock drafts, but his guy can't shoot. Just like Gordon and pretty much rest of the current Magic roster. What are they thinking? Man, I was watching Orlando Magic very closely during their D12 times and they were always like this with their FO decisions.. Crazy, bold, senseless..

Of course time will tell better, but I believe the Jazz massively benefited from PHI and ORL's poor decision-making.

I applaud Philly's boldness. But I feel sorry for their season-ticket holders. This is as bad as Stepien who used to sell all of the Cavs' picks (and why the no-trading 1st's in consecutive drafts rule was instituted). NBA should make Philly reimburse their ticket holders for this past season and next. They're getting (well, can't use the "r" word). Can I say "screwed" in this forum? Paying thousands of dollars to watch Philly chase the record for fewest wins in a season.

I think its clear that a big part of their decision to go with Gordon had to do with them loving Elfrid Payton. I think that's a poor way to draft, especially when your pick is so high. If you are drafting in the teens and your picks ar a little apart, fine, but picking at 4 because you can get your PG later on and passing on likely the best PG in the draft is a bad approach imo.

I think they are going to regret this, especially considering their entire starting lineup cant throw it in the ocean. They will struggle to score more than the 13-14 Jazz.
