Dante Opts for Surgery

No, it doesn't. Dante will likely miss just as much time. It is just as sad for him, a 4th year player who will miss his second season due to an injury that happened before the season even started.

Just because the spectacle of the injury wasn't as gruesome doesn't mean the effects are less.

And as a Jazz fan Dante's injury is WAY more significant.

Sure it's more significant but the chances of Dante making a full recovery are much greater than Hayward's. However, since I'm not a doctor, I could be wrong, but Dante didn't break any bones like Hayward.

It's not about missing time frame. As a basketball player you would rather have separated joint in non shooting shoulder than a broken bone and dislocated ankle in your dominant jumping leg. Good news for Hayward - he is intelligent player and did not relied on his athleticism alone, he will be back and will be playing at high level anyway. Dante on the other hand won't lose much because of his injury when it comes to his basketball skills. His use of left hand was almost zero anyway and it won't affect his quickness at all.
