If you can't follow the honor code, don't go to BYU.
I literally just learned of this story...literally.
And I agree with BYU's decision. I commend them for it.
If you can't follow the honor code, don't go to BYU.
This is pretty funny:

Drama Queen. He'll go Dwight Howard beast the weight room, make some personal changes, and put up 20 and 10 next year and BYU will be in the top 10 again sans Jimmer. I'm glad he isn't as mentally weak as you are.
Look at some of you. Pathetic.
This is like walking up to a bees next, kicking the **** out of it, and then getting mad at the bees for stinging you. This is not BYU's fault. Thank the Gods that at least one school still has the balls to have AND enforce an honor code.
I'm glad he isn't as mentally weak as you are.
I completely disagree that BYU allowed this to get out to the media. If he indeed repented for what he did and felt bad, why did the school find it meaningful to involve the media. Not only does he now feel bad for what he has done but is also embarassed and now the whole nation knows what he did. Last time I checked, what you tell a church authority is between you and them and God. Not you, them, God and ESPN.
It's nothing more than a conspiracy theory than anything else, but I have heard it brought up a few times that a there are folks up at BYU who are always very eager for an opportunity to show that sports DO NOT come before the religious aspects of the school. Some believe that's why you saw Davie's punishment come very quickly and very publicly.
I have no idea if this is true, but I've heard there's actually a good sized faction of people within BYU that would have no problem what so ever if the athletic programs were abolished all together.
