What's new

Game Thread Dec 27, 2025 06:00PM MT: Utah Jazz @ San Antonio Spurs

Added to Calendar: 12-27-25

We're back to being a crapshoot team. Will be win, maybe? Will we get blown out, maybe? Make the playoffs, maybe? Trade everyone away in February, maybe?
Tony was pretty clear on the Jazz’s strategy, but maybe Adam Silver’s little hissy fit changed things.

Ethically speaking, the Spurs don’t deserve an 8 foot center with guard skills and OKC certainly doesn’t deserve two lottery picks in the very strong upcoming draft.
Jazz should still try to keep their top 8 pick
It does not have to be in top 4
The #8 pick could still be very good
I'm aware. I'm just saying I don't think this team being great hinges entirely on the 2026 NBA draft.

GREAT? Greatness probably actually does rely on the 2026 draft being a home run. This team looks like it could be nice (top-6 seed) for a little while once it hits its stride.

I’d like to try something beyond what we’re already well-accustomed to, especially since the Jazz will not be tanking next year or following years (unless something crazy happens).

You add Walker, a high level free agent, and improvement from Ace and you can be a top 4 seed
Now add a top pick to that.

You wouldn’t know it but I’m so very ****ing tired of advocating for this. However, I’m more tired of the Jazz doing a bad job at it and creating more misery in the net.

I would be astonished if this team could legitimately compete with the Thunder or Spurs without a (nother?) blue-chipper.

Jazzfanz: We can tank properly if we just play the young guys

The Young Guys: Hold our beers
Not even. The whole point is to just play the young guys. I’m great with winning if we just play the young guys. It’s winning games with washed veterans that will just be here shortly that accomplishes nothing and actually has a negative effect.

Yeah, I don’t have any strategic gripes with this one.

If we’re going to **** this all up we gotta have the young-ish players doing it on their own.

Probably..with Lauri out there we are just too potent offensively. Him and George are killers.
When Lauri gathered the team after a SA run and was demonstrative and clearly motivating and energizing his teammates- I knew that this Lauri and the new Keyonte are real building blocks for a championship team- and we have a real coach because neither of these guys were this kind of leader when they arrived…

Finally got times to wath few games. Very interesting time ahead. Which direction will takes FO? Seems that this team can be very good adding 1 top player or very bad if trading Lauri and another guy? Feb 5th we may know...

You have been miserable for years whining about every decission the FO has made or not made.

Yet here we are, looking at a young team performing great and with tons of players (Ace, WCJ, Flip, Brice, Cody, TH and maybe even Key) who probably havent reached their ceilings.

Time to stop playing the same old violin maybe?
