Deron Williams agress with Besiktas (turkish team )Derom Williams to play in Turkey during lockout

NBA star Deron Williams has agreed terms with Turkish club Besiktas in principle.

Williams will sign a contract with Besiktas that will allow him to return to NBA as soon as the lockout ends. Nevertheless it is the greatest summer transfer by a European club, so far.

Williams who was traded to New Jersey Nets earlier this season after a fall out with the former team coach Jerry Sloan would be receiving $16.000.000 this year, but obviously doesn't want to stay inactive during the lockout.

The thing is, there are two teams playing in Euroleague in Turkey, Efes and Fenerbahce, Besiktas is not one of them, but as i see if Deron accepts it, it will be great for this team and it will more or less prove that Deron is looking for a mid level game practise while there is lockout. I hope he will sign, it will be great to see him in Turkey though i still dont think it will come true.

But as far as i know, the principle states that, the contract with Besiktas will last till lockout ends.

Right; but the point is if NBA players are scattered throughout the globe playing basketball then they won't be able to put pressure on the union to get a deal done.

This is exactly what happened during the hockey lock-out in 2004 - and a big part of the reason why the entire season was wiped out.

How will the Euro refs respond to Deron chasing them down the floor whining about a foul call from 3 possesions earlier?

I hope his Turkish Teamates give him a Barbie back-pack to carry around, and kick balls all over the arena for him to pick up every night.

Also, I predict a drive to the basket with contact resulting in Deron rolling on the floor in agony while the other team races to the other end for a score.

If there's a mass exodus, Harris, Hayward, Burks, Evans, Jefferson, Millsap, Kanter and Favors better sign with the same team.

Most american players cant adopt to european basketball due to different rules and gameplay but Deron has a really dominating body, i dont think he will maximize efforts but still he will lift Besiktas to 2-3 upper levels.

All european players love whining thats why i dont think it will be a big problem. See calderon, gasol, fernandez ...

I didnt follow nba then but this lockout thing sucks, i hope it doesnt happen pretty often and they will get the deal done. I say it as a european , even if the players keep coming to european teams , euroleague doesnt excite me that much.

Sweet. I bet he will stay at Memo's and Kanter's parents house. He is totally coming back to Utah. We should nickname him Cliff Lee, basketball style.

Do the euro refs tolerate whining? It seemed different to me than the NBA in the few games and clips I have been able to watch of Euro basktetball. It was refreshing.

By the way I will be disappointed if Deron doesn't average 58% fg, 21 points, 15 assists and 3 steals a game. :)

I'm a bit suprised by this considering that Deron hasn't been the picture of durability the last few seasons. I'd figure the guy wouldn't want to take any chances and continue to rest that pesky wrist of his.

I can't imagine the Nets would be pleased by this.

more power to him, I hope all players do this, and globalize the league... there's no reason FIBA can't be FIFA

I will be surprised if FIBA ever has the parity that FIFA has. If the top US players play, they will always dominate everyone else.
