Derrick Favors ‘frustrated’ by Team USA snub

You guys ever watch national games? Faried has been a key player for the team USA. Regardless of how he performs in the NBA, he is a perfect PF playing against international teams.
Favors certainly deserved an invite, he is a rare young two-way big.. so underrated. But this is good news, folks. This should light a fire under Favors. He can be a great player if he brings his A game every night, plays with consistent intensity. I like how Gobert wisely jumped on the opportunity via his tweet. This should improve team-chemistry.

Poor Faves. But I think it's the best for him. He needs something to piss him off and he plays a lot better when he is pissed off.

This just gets me excited for the upcoming season. Imagine Favors looking at the calendar and seeing that he's going up against Plumlee, Faried or Cousins and proceeds to absolutely DESTROY them. Then imagine people crying out loud why the heck was he not invited to the camp.

While he clearly deserved the invite, I see this ultimately being a good thing in the long run. Favors may not show the "fire" or "passion" on the court that some do, but that doesn't mean he's lacking it. He has a quiet intensity about him, & while it may not always be visible, he tries as hard as anybody on the floor. Right or wrong (& imo it's wrong), I could see personality having played a factor in this decision. Considering the fact that he was invited last time & has done nothing but improve since then, I could see him "not being one of the guys" as the reason that he was left out. Personally, I think every team/locker room needs more players like Favors who just go about their business in a low-maintenance manner & continue to work as hard as possible to improve as much as possible day in & day out. If Team USA doesn't believe that they need a player like that, it's their loss (although I'm sure they'll somehow be alright) & our gain.

In the end, this will likely be a blessing in disguise (for both the team & Favors) as it will undoubtedly give him even more motivation (not that he's the type of player/individual who needs it) to be better this upcoming season. I also think players will rally around this type of thing, as displayed by Gobert's tweet. I believe that, individually & collectively, the Jazz feel underestimated, which will do nothing but cause them to be united (even more so) in proving the world wrong. These type of occurrences (Favors not getting the invite, Gobert feeling snubbed in the DPOY voting, etc) can only improve what is already clearly a closeknit locker room. He's not the type of player that will allow this to be anything other than a positive & just imagine if this causes him to play with even more intensity than he already does (which he does, even if it's not always on display). The fact that he is frustrated shows that he cares about proving that he is one of the best in the world. Team USA may have just awoken a sleeping giant (although to be fair, the giant was never actually sleeping, his demeanor just causes him to appear that way). I honestly can't wait to see what a frontcourt of Favors & Gobert with something to prove looks like.

Honestly this is good, even if he got invited he probably wouldn't have been put onto the team anyway so this makes him feel completely disrespected which will put an even hotter fire under his butt for next season....add in Gobert's chip for not being mentioned for DPOY, gotta love it

No doubt they are going to devastate this season.

Watching the Team USA Minicamp on NBATV, they showed the roster list. It listed Hayward as 'G. Haywood".
