Derrick Favors by the numbers

This is why I honestly believe that if the Jazz would have amnestied Jefferson before last season, their record would be the same. There were games Jefferson won for us, but there at least as many games that he lost for us.

they might have even been better, but either way it would have made them a lot stronger in the future if al hadn't been standing in derrick's way.

jefferson helps the jazz win a lot of games that they probably would have won anyway. need a 34-point outing to get past the wizards at home? al's your guy. need someone to score 31 so you can beat the worst team in league history by a paltry half-dozen? don't worry, al's got ya covered.

but when you're in a winnable fourth quarter against a quality team, al comes up empty more often that not.

Favors is very good with immense upside .. but also a bit overvalued, imo, by Jazz fans. I just wish he'd get tons of confidence and get a mean streak going. Punch a couple midgets or something.

I wonder why fans can't get the fact that it takes at least 4 to 6 years in the league for any big to show you what they're actually capable of.
Ala Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol, Andrew Bynum, oh and even the all hailed Dwight Howard.
Those players all took at least 3 to 4 years to put it all together.

This comment is amazing. My Big Al hatred has been increasing ever so steadily this off-season. We have to get rid of this big lazy turd, I know some guys will come on here and post the same garbage "oh but Al is such a nice guy!" "He really wants to get better at defense, he even said it!" blah blah blah, **** that fat ***

Pickled, are we?

Seems like Duncan was pretty decent right away.

yeah it seems that way... and yet, even duncan had a clear bump after year four. his PER for the first four years were 22.6, 23.2, 24.8 and 23.8... then all of the sudden he exploded: 27, 26.9, 27.1, 27 in the next four years.

and if you don't think the difference between a 23ish PER and a 27ish PER is big, look again. this year, that was basically the difference between kevin durant and al jefferson. if a guy had been producing like al jefferson and suddenly started producing like kevin durant, you would definitely notice the improvement.

I hope favors is having a productive summer working out and getting a mid-range jumper locked down. I think he is gonna blow up and surprise lots of people

We wasted a year on Favor's contract having Al around. We lost a year of deep end development. Our record may or may not have been worse. Best case scenario? We win a couple more games and end up with the sixth seed instead of the eight....or we end up with the eighth and swept by SA...or we end up with a lotto pick this year.

There was no wrong way to go this year....except playing Al 30+ minutes a game. That was the only thing the Jazz could have done wrong this year.

i'm still big on teaching young guys they have to earn theirs... but yeah, i think al is costing the jazz some future wins.... and probably some present ones.

Kind of funny how we over analyze the hell out of everything to the point of confusion, then a couple posters who actually watch games more than stat sheets come along and blow our entire theory out of the water.

I'm looking for a thread where Salmon Hobo & I were discussing a bet on Favors' potential but cannot find it. +many reps to whoever does.
