Yeah, that's what it is. But they produce consistently good quality food, have a line out the door all the time and still charge $9.95 for a dinner plate. I give credit to a place that never serves stuff below a certain standard. If people make it out to be life altering food that's on them.Exactly. Hyped for all of that and I just found it to be ok. Have had better moles, to me theirs all tasted very similar. Have had better Mexican food in general. Prices were decent. Just didn't find it to be that great yet it always gets thrown around as one of the best in the state. Have been there a dozen times or so, because it is decent and I have friends who cannot get enough, and i worked near there for a while. I've always just seen it as another of the many pretty good Mexican joints in the area
When my sister comes to town we always go and she insists on going to the original location, but I'm perfectly happy going to their other location a block and a half away. It's usually quite a bit less busy. Plus it can much more easily accommodate larger groups and or single guests.Only down side is how crowded and how long a line.
Thanks for fighting the good fight.Yeah, that's what it is. But they produce consistently good quality food, have a line out the door all the time and still charge $9.95 for a dinner plate. So, where's the better mole place? I'll go there tomorrow. I mean it's so easy to find 6 varieties of mole that is better than theirs, I'll have some.
Look, sorry for being defensive. I am being defensive, I get that. But why hold it against them when all they do is serve the food they serve, don't go crazy thinking they are hot **** and charge $25 for a plate of tacos smothered in mole, instead they serve a very similar menu to what they had 25 years ago.
And you didn't say what you ordered. Just "I had their moles and I've had better." Like you've been there a dozen times or whatever, what did you order? They have plenty of meh on their menu. But for I think it's $12 the Tacos Don Ramon is really good. Their fish tacos are good. Get the carne asada burritos and add the jalapeno mole, it's good. Not one of those dishes cost more than $15. You be served by someone who takes waiting tables seriously. Your food will come out of a kitchen that will never send out a sub-par ****ed up plate. They aren't pretentious and they aren't acting like their food is something it isn't. I mean what makes a restaurant good? To me they are very very good.
I get this....but this really isn’t a big deal. I just hope there’s very good fan turnout at it so he feels the love.A DM bridge dedication?
Gtfo. He hasn’t even played here two years.
The place is a little near and dear to my heart. Not only did I grow up about a mile from there but that's the first place I took my wife on a date and we went there every Friday for probably over a year in the mid-90s. Back then there was what I'm pretty sure was their head waitress who when we showed up would seat us in her section right away even if there was a wait. They used to have a seafood platter that would feed 2-4 people. My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I would get that when we were splurging.I have to admit I never saw this going down a Red Iguana debate thread lol.
Wow sorry bro. Didn't mean to offend. Just pointed out to me they don't live up to the hype. You ok?Yeah, that's what it is. What hype? Show me the hype.Wow sorry bro. Didn't mean to offend. Just pointed out to me they don't live up to the hype. You ok?
What hype? Show me the hype.
What do you order when you go there? Like what dish have you had and what was it you found lacking?
I'm good, I just think you are bashing, like you've done with Takashi. You want to be better than these places and tell us that the things here that are good are just okay, but you have never put any substance to these critiques. And yeah, you're picking on a place that I care about and you haven't named a single dish that you had there.
So say what you've had, explain your experience with it and I'll be more than ok.
Not saying I'm calling you on your ********, but I think there's a good chance you haven't even eaten there.
