How is it way out of character? They traded for Rose then released him before he showed up.

That was a different situation with multiple teams involved, and players, the jazz clearly were interested in someone else, and was reported immediately he was going to be waved. This was clearly a trade for need in bench scoring ability. Not sure how you don’t see this.
