What's new

Does Dennis Lindsey get canned if this season is botched?

If we go .500 or less and miss the playoffs, that's 3 straight years. If we did that and lost Hill and Hayward to free agency, yes, that's 3 straight years moving sideways through the world of NBA mediocrity.

The first two were not about record. They were about talent accumulation and development. It was about building a base. Last year should have been about the record but this season obviously is.

So in the frame of "moving sideways" that's 1 year. If it happens this year that's 2, not 3, and a major failure for the Jazz.

Jazz fans using the big "if" we can stay healthy card with Burks...

Lol

If Greg Oden can stay healthy he'd be a good center in this league.

Guys, burks is injury prone. His entire game centers around driving to the hole and throwing his body into defenders.

Keep in mind that in teams 1-10 in the west, 2 or 3 of them are going to have injury issues. Happens every year. Last year it was us. Year before that it was the Thunder. If the Jazz have good health they will advance a spot or two higher than expected because another team won't. Dallas is a strong candidate as well as the Clippers.

In college Burks had zero injuries (that's 2 years)
His first three years in the nba he had no injuries (that's three more years)

Then the last two years he had two injuries. And they were both un-related. (One he chose to have shoulder surgery.... He didn't even have to. Could have kept playing but wanted to get it done and over with. The next injury was a broken leg in a fluke-ish type play.)

So in 7 years he has 2 injuries and now he is greg oden?

Also, burks doesn't drive as much as he did early on... He is used a lot more as a spot up corner three point shooter now since his shot has improved.... Attacking is still a huge part of his game, as it should be, but he does less often under quin than he did under corbin.

It's not the age but the mileage.

It's not the age but the mileage.
He barely played his first three years and the last two he missed lots of games and was 6th man so didn't even play starter minutes anyway.

He doesn't have hardly any mileage on his body lol.

Age wise and mileage wise he is young

No, no, no but you don't understand fish! It's gravity!! No! Its mental! No! Its Snyder!! he has arthritis!!

Absolutely. That would be amazing. It would mean Hayward, Favors or Exum blew up and are scoring 25 a night. I'd LOVE that.
Lol. I doubt it. It would only go to prove me right having u on my idiot list.

Couldn't have said it better

What's it like talking out yer ***?

What are you talking about?

His last two injury prone seasons strengthens my point, not yours. Him not playing much in his first few seasons strengthens my point, not yours. His body is breaking down. When he was playing a few mins in a handful of games, he was fine. But now that he's playing big mins? All of those attacks to the rim are taking a toll. Whereas before hed bounce back from them now they're resulting in injuries.

Listen, I'd love to see Burks play 10 more years. But at this point I don't think we can nor should rely on him to play more than half the season.

No you are wrong. He broke his leg. One time. That's the only injury that took him out of a game. It's not a reoccurring injury.

This isn't derrick rose, greg oden, or brandon roy where they keep re-injuring themselves.

He could end up like that in the future if he keeps getting injuries but so far he got hurt one time that forced him to leave a game and miss significant time.

His shoulder didn't force him to miss time. He could have kept playing but management, his agent, and himself decided to get surgery because they thought it might need surgery eventually and they decided to get it out of the way. His shoulder has been fine ever since.

Again, 2 un-related injuries (One of them not even really an injury) in 7 years does not = injury prone.

And again, he has not played very many minutes in his nba career, therefore he doesn't have a lot of mileage on his body. And he is young.

I don't think you understand what mileage on an nba body means. See a guy like lebron that has been in the league for many years, always has played tons of minutes, has played in tons of playoff games, and played many games for the national team has lots of mileage.

A guy like burks who has not been in the league very long, sat on the bench during a lot of his young career, and doesn't ever play in the playoffs or for any international competition has low mileage.

I hope that helps you understand.

I want to focus on this part of your post for a second.

All of his attacks at the rim since he has been getting more minutes have resulted in exactly ONE INJURY. The one where paul pierce fouled him hard and he landed awkwardly. It was not a build up of all his attacks at the rim. It wasn't multiple injuries.

It was one injury on one play.
