Now that he's made a fuss about wanting to be traded, he'll poison the atmosphere

Maybe, maybe not. You are making an assumption and putting the cart before the horse imo

Yeah, I am going to assume that part of the genesis of this issue was that Kanter was told he was not going to be a starter anymore which puts a real kink in his attempt at signing a massive contract next season. Even if he just accepts the qualifying offer next year, there is no way the Jazz are going to continue to "feature" him. He knows this which is probably the reason for the tantrum. He thinks that there is some other team that is going to gift him with a starting spot and let him accumulate the stats he will need for a top tier contract. He is completely mistaken, especially now that he has rightfully received the "malcontent" label. Anybody looking seriously at him has him slated as a third big, just like the Jazz do. That is how they are going to pay him, just like the Jazz would. . .

Really? You're torn on whether a player who publicly stated he did not want to be part of the team negatively affects the team's atmosphere?

Well, he could suck it up and try to be a good teammate and give his best every game. (Not real likely)

The jazz could trade him right now which could actually IMPROVE chemistry (kind of likely)

Or let's say you are right and he kills the chemistry. Well I'm pretty sure that if he wrecks the locker room then the jazz won't want him after this season.
As for this season, he kills the chemistry, the jazz lose some extra games, we get a better draft pick..... and I have seen enough this year to know what we have for the most part.

Next year, Burks is back, hood is back, ingles is back, Hayward is a star, favors is almost a star, gobert is defensive player of the year, exum is improved and due to kanter killing the chemistry..... Maybe we add Towns, russell, or super Mario to the mix.

It's all good baby

I'm with you on this. This is something you work at behind the scenes, heck that's what agents are for. Going out public about it just raises suspicions in the team, like should Gobert be thinking 'I'm sorry, I didn't mean being better than you'. Again the sooner the Jazz end this drama the better. What a stupid agent.

Now that he's made a fuss about wanting to be traded, he'll poison the atmosphere in a sensitive period where the team is finally building chemistry and a cohesive identity. I think the Jazz should, and will, trade him. I think they'd do it even if it's for a second rounder.

Also, there is a chance that the team knew about kanters issues all year long and now that its finally out in the open, it could be a relief to be able to talk about it.

Also, the chemistry could improve because maybe the other players (favors, ingles, hayward, rudy, booker, etc) band together agains enes (like jazzfanz) and become even more of a cohesive unit

Lots of possible outcomes from enes revealing his desires. I think even if the chemistry does go severely downhill in a hurry then it wont carry into next year (jazz wouldnt re-sign him if he is THAT bad in the locker room with his teammates) so it would just hurt this season which may lead to a really good draft pick.

That's all good. Still, he's not very good. Gobert deserves his minutes. And he publicly demanded a trade because he's butt hurt about not getting minutes 3 years ago. So yeah, not exactly a player worth keeping, even for the QO.

Sounds like pure speculation on your part. I haven't seen a quote from Kanter yet but I can see why Kanter is upset. If he wasn't injured why didn't he go back into the game. Gobert and Booker weren't actually lighting it up.

I have no disagreement with you here.

I was simply saying that it's not a certainty that him coming out publicly will destroy the chemistry of everyone else and have some big negative impact going forward. (It could end up that way, but it's not a guarantee)

After reading siro original post, I realize that Im reading way more into it than I should have and putting words into his mouth somewhat.

Sorry siro, carry on

lol. It's fine. He won't necessarily make poison the atmosphere. It was speculation. But I just felt that we can safely assume his teammate won't be thrilled about playing with someone who publicly expressed his desire to leave.

You can see why Kanter is upset? Dude STILL played more minutes than Booker. If this entire tantrum was just about THIS game than Kanter is the biggest wussbucket to ever play in the NBA. It was NOT justified. Also NOT justified is Kanter starting for the past month. That was a freakin' gift to help with his trade value and likely the tank. Had he just shut his mouth and kept getting the start it would only have earned him more money on his eventual contract. I guess my assumption was that Enes was not stupid enough to torpedo that spot of good fortune unless he felt it was coming to an end. I guess you are right in that I discounted the option he was slated to go on starting indefinitely and is just a COMPLETE idiot.

Hearing about idiots like Kanter make me appreciate guys like Favors, Burks, Malone & Stockton even more.

You are remembering Malone wrongly. Dude demanded a trade almost every offseason.
This. Fans were always upset at Malone for opening his trap and dissing the Jazz management and hinting or outright saying he did not want to be here anymore. Biggest reason I was more of a Stockton fan than Malone fan. Stockton just came to play and kept his feelings to himself.

I hope not. I don't want to lose any part of the core. Enes is stupid for saying he wanted out, but the guy is young and I am sure his agent is filling his head full of BS. Kanter knows he is a part of this team and he grows along with it. He has growing pains. His defense and passing. But he does other things well. And I think for me personally it's a hard pill to swallow to watch any part of this young core be traded.

Exactly. This will be the first time one of those kids leaves his home.

Well, I hope some of the Turkish posters hang around, but Enes is as good as gone. His aspirations aren't happening in Utah with Rudy and Favors here. I had my hopes that we could get full trade value out of him, because he could be a valuable trade chip on a decent contract, but he sees the writing on the wall with Rudy and Faves starting in the future. I think he'll either get traded at the deadline, or Utah will talk him into a sign and trade in the offseason. I doubt he signs any offer that Utah could match, and if he takes the QO, his trade value is about what it is now, unless he just tears it up from here on out, which isn't out of the question. If he can put up a few more games like 24/17 and 23/16 with any consistency, he could gain value.
