Thank you! I appreciate an outsider with objective perspective weighing in. Utahns are traditionally status quo conservatives. Our window of opportunity is now and as successful as Snyder was in the regular season, he is a horrible playoff coach.

So I’m hopeful that new management makes the move that should have been made after last year’s meltdown. Kenny Atkinson would be my first choice as nobody has done more with less and his history of player development is stellar.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Snyder has lost the locker room in a sense - this team's confidence in the playoffs is shot. They don't ever smell blood in the water and are incapable of closing games/ series past the 2nd round. That starts with the top. This team will forever choke with Snyder as the coach (setting aside the roster construction, x's and o's, etc.). They need new life.

I'd compare it to the seahawks after not running the ball in the superbowl. Carrol didn't fire Bevill, and nobody was fired. They tried running it back but never made it to the conference championship again... locker room became toxic, full of resentment, etc.

I've seen this movie before and it doesn't end well.

Quin is a system guy and at times he seems totally incapable of coaching by the seat of his pants when the system and the players running it are getting torched. There was the game 6 meltdown, being down by 40 to the Raptors at the half last season, losing to the Wiz and TWolves four times this season, having healthy leads and then watching teams go on a 30-4 run.
 
He shouldn't. Good offensive system, great use of analytics, good repoire with players. How many dubious playoff records does he need before he's axed? The Denver thing was embarrassing, but this year produced a level of dysfunction that goes beyond an unadaptable philosophy. I can see once in awhile not being able to make successful in game adjustments, but when you can't after six games that showed the blueprint to catastrophe and this isn't your first go round with ineptitude, time to roll.
 
While there are good arguments to replace Quin, I think there are better ones to replace the FO. DL really whiffed this year with his weak acquisitions. We here all knew what was needed and he failed to do even the basics.

dl did get the jazz some damn good players, just the players are playoff chokers....thats just how it is. the roster needs to be fixed.....so

We've seen this take place a million times in the NBA and it work out - Dwayne Casey, Mark Jackson, Avery Johnson, Doc Rivers, Brett Brown ... coaches leading playoff teams get canned all the time to become better. Yet we think Snyder is prime Phil Jackson.
 
I think the roster decisions and failing to bring in a defensive wing with some length reflects more on the front office than the coach. I would have liked to see the Jazz give some developmental minutes to Jarrell Brantley for this reason, but I don't know what's going on inside the team. Niang wasn't playable against the Clippers' long, switching defenders, but Brantley might have had some impact.

The Jazz blew multiple big leads because of poor defense and turnovers. And it's not like what the Clippers were doing was that break-through or unexpected. I mean, the way the Jazz were shooting the ball in Game 5, how do you lose that one? And at a certain point of Game 6, say when Terrance Mann already has 20 pts, why can't we make a defensive adjustment?

I think Coach Quin will get off the hook because key guys were injured. The Clippers were able to attack Mitchell, Conley and even Gobert in Game 6 because they were all hobbled. But after Game 2, when the Clippers committed to going small, the Jazz never really got stops. The Denver series a year ago was eerily similar. Clearly there is a problem with perimeter defense. The over-reliance on Gobert to anchor the defense doesn't hold in a 7-game series against a versatile team.
 
We have the roster. We were up 3-0. We were up 25 and they dropped 81 in a half without their best player. These are not roster collapses they are coaching fails.
