What's new

Dok's and Bolarmo's options not picked up:

NAW can be used as filler and there might be someone that still sees a tall combo guard worth developing. But overall, he is maybe less athletic than Juzang, and so "average", it is a wonder he has not been waived already given they are not tanking. With Mike and JC contracts being fairly large to move without eating bad returns for picks, I don't see that many needs to use any tiny fillers, unless they are dumping Gay, for a more useful rotational big, to add depth for a treadmill play in push.
NAW's expiring 5M is great salary ballast for a trade. If we move Mike, JC, KO, and need to match a bigger salary its good to have. He also seems like an A+ as a teammate and locker room guy so that's another reason to keep him around until something better comes around.

Unbelievable, we kept these two jokers over Butler, who was at least able to somewhat contribute on both sides of the court.

Dok looks useless but I think if balmaro gains some confidence on the offensive side of his game he could be a solid 9th or 10th man in a rotation

Might as well waive them and try out some G-League PGs.
Maybe we could sign Saben Lee or Jared Butler?

Nah you keep em around as expiring contracts until you make a move... unless there is someone you really love and want to give a shot.

I don't believe Jazz have intention of developing any of the 3 so just cut the guy with the smallest contract. Wouldn't be surprised if Dok/Bolmaro contracts end up as filler in a trade by the deadlne. Just my gut feeling but think these 2 are going to be lower maintenance and not complain when the DNPCD's rack up. Jazz have 13 FRP's thru '29 so can be choosy about which players they try to develop.

I don't really care that much, but still interesting that these guys made the roster over Butler. If Butler would have showed anything this year, I believe he would have been restricted, so the decision could have been delayed until the end of the year. Whereas we already had to make a decision on these guys with not much more information than we had at the end of training camp.

Why do these contracts get set up so that team options have to be decided so early?
Tells you how much they actively disliked Butler

People are going towards Butler, but my bigger question is towards Johnson.

Seemed like he fit the team more than Bolmaro. I get keeping Udoka because of center depth issues, but why keep Bolmaro? The dude looked like a guaranteed non-NBA player in SL. Johnson also seemed like a positive dude. Maybe he had more expectations for minutes than the Jazz we're willing to give, so they just parted ways.
