Only problem is you get Carroll or Johnson/Hezonja/Winslow. Already will be crowded adding one wing to the mix of Hood/Hayward/Burks.

The problem I see in adding Carroll is he will likely look for a starting gig... Are we going to start him or Hood or Burks? He will likely get paid $10+ M per year and I think we'd have to wave Booker to clear enough space to bring in Carroll and Tomic. I got the sense that we likely won't be making a big free agency signing.

I think we will go more to the middle to lower class of free agents. I think we are looking at guys like Jae Crowder, Jonas Jerebko (guys that can play the 3 and small ball 4), Mike Dunleavy, CJ Watson (if Trey is moved). I think we are looking at rotation 15 minute a game guys unless there is some long term plan to move Burks.

Maybe.

But, Burks can and will play a lot of minutes at the "1". That'll free things up. Quote me on it.

that makes sense... although everyone is going to jump in and say we tried that. I think with our system it would make much more sense to try Alec there. If you put some combo of 3 of Hayward/Hood/Carroll/Burks on the floor there would be mismatches somewhere.

I guess you get Carroll if you can and then figure things out.

these are my thoughts precisely.

There's no reason you can't play the following combinations:

Burks/Hood/Hayward

Hood/Carroll/Hayward

The other combinations will obviously work. There are minutes.... especially if Exum's leash is shortened a bit, which I expect it to. I also expect him to earn quite a few minutes.

i have been saying this for a while. Jazz dont run a pg dominate offense

I also think this is part of the issue with Burke... He likes to control the ball and is a traditional point guard... We need him to move it a bit more.

Yea the way our new system works you don't really need a PG to play the PG spot. You need somebody that can guard PG's on the perimeter and be effective against PNR's. But the PG in our current system isn't really asked to come down and be the main cog in the offense like in the past.

Why would Carroll leave Atlanta? They are likely to play him and he already is starting there.

Hmm rotation of Exum, Burks, Hayward, Hood and either Ingles or Millsap would be very interesting defensively. Our size on the perimeter could make our D even better.

Exum 28/ Burks 20
Burks 12/ Hood 28 / Ingles 8
Hayward 35 / Ingles 13
Favors 28 / Booker 20
Gobert 32 / Favors 6 / New Center 10

That give total minutes of

Hayward 35
Favors 34
Burks 32
Gobert 32
Hood 28
Exum 28
Ingles 21
Booker 20
New Center 10

We would miss out on the early offense I think but the D should be outstanding.

Carroll will be a Knick next fall. They want him, he wants them, they have money, he wants money...
