Yeah, not a fan of that genre. Keep hoping it will just run it's course and TV executives will come up with something other then shows contributing, at least at times, to the dumbing down of America. Instead, Trump lowers the bar right from the start, throws his opponents completely off guard, until eventually they too descend to the level he has set, and the electorate is left watching the nomination process presented as a Realty show. I sure would like to think we are better then this!

I have bad news for you. Reality TV is not going anywhere. The production costs are a fraction of creating quality program and the ratings are high. Unfortunately, as a society we are clearly not better than this. The ratings and the election results prove it.

And who could ever imagine, that we would "allow" our election process to arrive at a point, where a candidate, the front runner in the GOP race, would, in the course of the debate format, brag about the size of his penis? As Trump did last night, and in response to Rubio obliquely referencing the size of Trump's penis a few days earlier.

So embarrassing... and did you see him talk about how Romney would have dropped to his knees for the Trump endorsement? That was even worse.

And yet it's the most inefficient healthcare system in the developed world-- while curiously also being the least public healthcare system in the developed world. And we're just talking about efficiencies right now! We aren't even addressing access, or the fact that 1/3rd of filed bankruptcies in America being due to healthcare bills!!

Agreed. It is possible that when you have massive amounts of government interference in a free market enterprise, you will become more inefficient. To me, our healthcare regulations are a classic example of how government inefficiencies and interference can hurt a sector. I don't think anyone in their right mind would say health care in this country is a pure private enterprise.

With healthcare, we need to either be a free market enterprise with minimal interference, or just go pure social medicine. The latter is the route we are following, and when it happens, the subsidization we have been providing the rest of the world in increases in medical care and technology will go out the window, or will cause the rest of the world to step up and pay their share.

It speaks to the huge problems of racial, religious, and socio-economic inequality that is deep rooted in this country. We've failed as a nation to realize it and address it, hiding behind nationalism and economic prosperity. Those who are ignored are now speaking up, loudly.

This is what happens when we pretend that everything is ok, we're the best, and everyone who says otherwise is a freedom hating traitor.

The disenfranchised are rising up. It just so happens that many of these folks are bigoted, racist, sad, angry humans.
