Donovan icing his foot during game

There was a play the game before when he was going up for a layup and the defender stepped on his foot. I think that is the play during which he originally was injured. I looked for it in games 4 and 5 highlights but can't find it. But I remember it clearly. Donovan was on the left side in a break situation and the Houston player stepped on his foot causing him to lose control and fall to the floor. I think that was when he actually injured his foot.
Well it clearly wasn’t, so

I don't know about that. I wish I could find the clip. Maybe someone else remembers it. It was either game 4 or 5.
The injury that made him unable to play basketball is the injury that made him unable to play basketball.

What don’t you understand about that?

I think we might be in a tricky situation. It is REALLY important that the Jazz err on the side of caution. Even if it means sitting Don for half the season. **** it, we'll still make the playoffs. And it would give Grayson and Dante a chance to develop.

I hope I'm reading into this too much.

I dont think that's necessary, but I do think we shouldn't(and we don't even have to) put the majority of the offense on his shoulders.

With a healthy squad we can look for a balanced scoring attack. I'm hoping the first half of the season is a total team game, and when
playoff crunch time comes Donovan is healthy, and ready to take over in some big moments.

Why are you so stubborn. I know that injuries from my own experience don't always manifest immediately and that often it's something that happened prior to the final injury that actually caused the problem. The injury that finally caused him to leave the game was nothing like the one when the player stepped fully on his foot. I suspect it was the first injury that led to the second one that was the source of the problem. Anyway, it did happen and I wish I could find the clip of it.

The paranoid streak in me is watching him this preseason suspecting he has about 80% of the spring/explosiveness that he had last year.

Anyone else feel the same way? Or should I crawl into a hole, never to return?

You guys are dumb as hell.

Yes, suddenly for reasons unknown the Jazz are hiding a serious injury to our star player so that he can go out and play against the Adelaide 36ers. We all know NBA players icing parts of their body is very rare and only happens in extremely dire circumstances.

Great job uncovering this mystery. I'm sure you'll go on to do great things.

I sense that myself, but then maybe I'm being paranoid.

That’s not at all what happened.

It’s a non-contact injury which is worse news. Also, had there been a foul called in your fantasy scenario, would that have made everything better?

You are both (kind of) wrong.

Corey Brewer stepped on his foot during the OKC series. It's a bruised toe. They are bad because they are so easy to aggravate. Any icing Mitchell is doing is probably just preventative.

Eenie might be right about a play happening like he described. I seem to remember him trying to walk off plays every game due to the injury that happened in the OKC series.

I knew someone stepped on his foot, so at least that's confirmed. Did it lead to the final injury, I don't know and never said I was sure of it, only that someone did step on his foot and that it probably contributed to it, so maybe my choice of words was too definitive.

I am aware people get banged up, and am aware that those can setup a larger injury. I’m aware of the OKC instance, which wasn’t what was being discussed.

The issue is how definitive and restrictive you were framing this as. If we’re talking about THE injury - the one that left him in a boot for months - we know what that was.

I missed the last 5 posts in this thread. Cy posted the video of Brewer stepping on Don's foot-maybe that was the original injury and it got aggravated a few times until it finally gave out in Houston. Then I saw what happened this season as I mentioned in the first post of this thread. Now it looks like Donovan is taking it relatively easy. Hate to be the BWCW but the concern is real.
