Donovan icing his foot during game

I missed the last 5 posts in this thread. Cy posted the video of Brewer stepping on Don's foot-maybe that was the original injury and it got aggravated a few times until it finally gave out in Houston. Then I saw what happened this season as I mentioned in the first post of this thread. Now it looks like Donovan is taking it relatively easy. Hate to be the BWCW but the concern is real.
Donovan’s foot seems just fine. What you seem to want to ignore is he’s using the same moves he’s just either missing it, or getting his shot blocked almost every time. He’s used his euro step and scoop layup several times and it’s just not working out for him. You’re trying to find excuses. Donovan’s just struggling. It’s okay it’s his second season, you don’t have to find something wrong, he’s just struggling. He’s moving fine, he’s jumping fine, he just doesn’t seem to have made many adjustments to his game. That is partly due to the fact he had to sit out a long time with the foot problem.

If we’re telling the truth, Donovan just didn’t improve or change his game much during the offseason. So far I’ve seen the exact same moves, lower shooting percentages, and at some moments during that Memphis game you could see him start to question himself and also he’s pressing at times due to the hype and expectations around him. He will figure this out, he’s struggling. We don’t need to use the foot as a scapegoat.

He's not the same. It's very possible it's because he couldn't practice all summer and he is indeed fine. Hopefully that's all it is.

In October of his rookie season Mitchell shot 32% from the field and 29% from 3.

He may just be a slow starter. It's only his 2nd year. He's a volume shooter. When those types have bad games, the stat lines can be ugly.

Oh my hell dude.....WATCH HIM. He cuts fine, jumps fine, moves fine, isn't grimacing, hasn't went back to the locker room or asked to be taken out once. The dude is fine, his shots just aren't falling and he's pressing and has some pressure on his shoulders. It's okay to say he's struggling without using excuses. He will figure it out. It may take 10 games but he will be fine. What I've seen different is the shots that he was getting last year, he's trying to use the same moves, and defenders are getting him on them this year. Shooting comes and goes. He's never been a really great 3 point shooter, from college to even last season. He was good, but there's going to be good and bad nights and I still fully believe Don's efficiency will get better. You can't concern yourself too much about him until we see at least a 15-20 game sample size. A 3 game a sample size is ridiculous to try to get anything out of. Donovan is smart, hard working, and a tough minded kid. He will break out of this struggle. I see no reason to believe an injury is his problem right now. I see many signs that point to pressure, defenses figuring him out a bit, and him questioning himself a little at times. As I've said 100 times over. I love Don, and he will be just fine.

He's the same. He had bad games last year. He isn't a flawless player.

Actually he's not the same. But like I said earlier, if his shot were falling we wouldn't be talking about it. Great players rise above, and we all know Donovan is great.

People like you expected him to be an all star and didn't take into account how 2nd year players will struggle since NBA coaches have a year of film on a guy. You and so many others around here ignored that all Off season when I kept mentioning it. Ready to believe me now? Mitchell will be fine but last year he snuck up on people. This year he can't do that so I wou!d expect to see him struggle.

LOL. Believe me I've lost zero faith in Donovan. But this isn't about defenses adjusting. No ****ing defense can adjust to Donovan. He's shown that. When he's on he's unstoppable. He'll take it right through 5 dudes and make them look silly while he's at it. We've seen that so many times.

Donovan spent to much time pleasing Jazz fans during the Off season instead of being out of Utah and working out with other great players. He did that for his brand and it was smart move. Maybe now that jazz fans love him next off season he won't have to spend his whole time in Utah working on his brand and instead be in gym work I g on game

Ridiculous. You act like teams couldn't watch game film of him until summer. NO ONE CAN STOP HIM when he's 100%. Not Houston in the playoffs, not OKC. No one.

If his shot is falling guys also come out farther or contest harder and the other stuff opens up more.

He’s been playing at one speed against teams that can drop the big and GS which is a defensive juggernaut. He’s been bad but he’s being guarded by Klay and Tenple (very good an underrated).

It will come and I don’t think he’s hurt... he may not have the huge jump from year one to year two some expect. He may just get to his prior year levels but with more defensive attention that allows the team to get better.

I don’t see the injury stuff personally.

It happens every season with our star players. The off-season happens and people forget what they actually look like. They expect them to come back and start the season in mid-season form and be amazing right away.

I would be ecstatic if he were the same player as last year(not saying he won't be). What did he average from January on, something like 22-24 PPG?

And here's the thing, if you actually think this is all a result of his toe being ****ed up, it won't get better. It will only get worse. So if your theory is correct, we will know.

No he just didn't get enough time because the Jazz kept him off his foot until really late in the summer as a precaution. If there's anywhere you want a player it's with his coaches and training staff working, not with people who have nothing to do with how he plays his game. He worked out with Wade and CP and Harden, as well as other trainers even during the short amount of time he was cleared to play. What's actually good for his brand is doing all the traveling he did outside of Utah this off-season. As usual your take is hot garbage.
