Donovan in three point contest

What? Uh, ok. Don't take any of our 40%+ dudes for that tho.

Random but ok, cool.
Your puzzled attitudes puzzles me. They want a jazz player because we are regarded as the greatest 3pt team in nba history, and Mitchell is the most marketable player on the team, why would they pick anyone else, maybe Joe Ingles because he’s built a name and a real nba character, but clearly he doesn’t care to do it.

guys this isn’t rocket science.

The media explosion over Donovan will be for years to come if he won the 3-point contest and the dunk contest!!!!!!!......
Jordan only got 5 (the lowest total ever) in the 3 point contest in 1990. A three point contest can't be rigged like the dunk contest (especially in 1988 when Dominique was clearly better).

Let's check that logic. Stockton was the far more marketable star. He had a 3 pt % within a whisker of Hornacek. But who won it twice for the Jazz? Yep, Jeff Hornacek. Who really had about the same marketability as, say, Ingles does right now. Why? He was the better 3 pt shooter. So Donovan, at 38% against Ingles at 41%?

It isn't rocket surgery.

Edit: Corrected, Joe is shooting .463 from 3 this season. Holy crap. DM at .389

Yeah, but Stockton wasn't the type to compete in an individual competition and Joe would rather spend time with his family.

Don is an excellent choice for this competition. He hit more 3's as a rookie than any rookie in league history. He was the fastest to 500 made 3's in league history. It's not like he's Michael Jordan and thrown in there to boost the competition's viewership numbers. Don has a legit claim to get a shot in this competition.

Don is a fine choice, for exposure. But not for winning the competition nor rewarding those players who worked hard on their shot to become one of the best in the league at it. I would rather see one of our second tier guys get that boost than it go down as yet another accolade for the stars.

Gonna be that voice again:

How Donovan is perceived this year is worth like $30 million or more because if he makes an All-NBA team he gets a massive raise over the life of his contract. Soooo yeah, he has tens of millions of reasons to find avenues to increasing his prominence in the league right now.

Him getting that raise would be the difference in the Jazz having/keeping/pursuing a rotation player, easily.

So, yeah, just... enjoy this season.
