Donovan is pissed at some stupid Jazz Fans

Is it part of the league? Sure. Is it right? No. I get it Hood missed some shots and kind of hit the perfect storm. However, I saw Burks miss a bunch of shots, Rubio miss some wide open shots they let him shoot, ingles hit 1 shot all night. Hood didn’t deserve boos, every one of them did. I will say Donovan may need to learn this is the NBA now. I support what he said on twitter, but these aren’t your classmates or your peers in the crowd anymore. They’re your customers. What was put on the court last night was trash, I agree with that sentiment. I just don’t agree on singling out one guy when the entire team laid a big egg and has several times. I saw Favors and Mitchell competeting last night. I dont remember anything anyone else did. Can’t take frustrations out on one guy who missed shots when this was a team effort at just looking bad. I can see people’s points, but I don’t take Mitchell as someone preaching to fans as much as he just actually cares about his teammates. If I were him I would be a bit more frustrated with the open missed looks off all his passes. Again last night he should have had about 5 assists that didn’t happen. I mentioned a week ago Hood was getting plenty of hate on social media and wondered when it would break, I guess last night was it. I just don’t get the animosity to one guy. Were fans expecting Rodney to be Hayward? I don’t think it’s ever going to happen. He’s a roll player with specific skills, deal with it and move forward.

You just don’t boo one guy because this is what t turns into, issues between fans and players. You boo the whole team and maybe they look at their terrible performance. You boo one guy and it unsettled that guy and his teammates over it obviously. I’ll say it again that game last night deserved boos, one guy alone didn’t. The effort was horrible, and my guess is Hoods won’t be much better nor will his attitude. You’re starting to see he doesn’t have very thick skin, and it bothers him in a way he seems to resent it.

I don't think the booing was necessarily a total reflection on Hood. It was just that he was jacking up shots and his one make was a complete gift from heaven since he banked in a 3. I think it was Rubio that had a completely open shot and then passes to Hood and he then puts up a contested shot without any hesitation. And that offensive possession got booed.

The offense was a complete joke at that point. Nobody could hit anything except for Fav dunks.

I wouldnt boo Hood right now. He is trying and I like him.

I would boo a player on my team if he did something I didn't like.

There is nothing wrong with booing. It's a part of sports. You cheer for things you like, you boo for things you don't like.

If a player stops trying and putting in effort I would boo him. If a player does something malicious I would boo him.

Fans spend a lot of time and money on sports. They have a right to boo their team if they don't like what is happening. They have a right to express their frustration. I guess the alternative is to simple quit watching and quit being a fan as well to express your frustration but a little booing seems less extreme.

If a player can't handle being booed sports are the wrong career.

He nearly airballed a wide open 3 after the boos.

I'm not going to go through every shot like you did but he shot 5 or 7 after starting 1 of 7.

He clearly improved in the second half - I don't know if it was because of the boo's but I pointed out that it was interesting that he did. So maybe his skin is a little thicker than even he thinks it is.

I'm not saying I would have boo'ed, what I am saying is that if I'm a guy and I'm plunking down 3 bills plus to take myself and my family to a game to watch a guy, virtually single-handedly (yes, I know, he wasn't the only one) shoot them out of a game, while the team has been losing, then I'd be inclined to boo too. I certainly wouldn't blame him anyway.

I actually agree, but thats not the way it’s being read by any players.

I think it's interesting that Donovan wants to be a force of good. As his career goes on he might become a voice of the league similar to Lebron. He'll stand up to players(Steven Adams, etc.), and stand up to his own fan base because he's a decent person and won't tolerate disrespectful behavior. You have to respect that.

I love his statement about last night. We should not be booing our players individually. If we want to boo at the end of a loss, that should be expected. I absolutely love how Mitchell came to his teammate's defense. We are so lucky to have Mitchell.

They were going on his twitter feed and telling him Rubio needs to be traded so he would flourish more with the ball in his hands. This is not the same as we here discussing how Rubio needs to be traded. Hell, I want Rubio to be traded too, but how stupid do you have to be to go to Mitchell himself and tell him that? Stupid and embarrassing.
That is true, and fans like that are embarrassing. . .

. . . but the more you interact with fans on social media, the more likely you are to cross paths with those morons.

Well, if the young men who were blessed with incredible physical attributes and make millions from it are so sensitive, I hope they don't come around here reading stuff.

I try to abide by my own rule: Never criticize a current Jazzman. But I also hate the idea that Jazzfans must forever and always treat the players like little demigods lest we offend them. I felt uncomfortable with the prayers and pleadings to persuade Hayward to stay and would rather not repeat it.

In the big picture, these guys are entertainers, and people pay for a performance. If someone is critical of the show, it is not necessarily a criticism of the performer.

This feels a bit strong to me. How many ways can (or should) fans demonstrate their opinions)?
Are people on here human garbage when they publicly ridicule players?
Are people better off not forking out the money to go and therefore show no interest? I bet the Jazz FO would prefer a bit of booing.

LOL - dude, you sound like a complete bumpkin.

Drink some tea and chill. I don't support people boing their own team but I understand it. Calling those fans "human garbage" it's uncalled for. Maybe you are the one who should try to understand others that feel/think/act different than you.

I don't like people boing their own players. But it's not really that uncommon, particularly in other sports or countries where people tend to be more passionate. In soccer is common practice to scream "oeeeleeeee" when the away team is toying with you or when you lack effort. It's supposed to make you feel embarrassed or mad, forcing you to react. Sometimes people boo or whistle a particular player who is playing poorly. See an Argentinian grandma cursing in the stands and you realize how important sports is for some people and how they are not themselves when feelings runs high.

I understand (not condone) the frustration of some fans against Hood at the beginning of the game. It's an accumulative process and right now the team sucks. Unfortunately Hood was the scapegoat. I guess some fans expected him to take a big leap this season or at least give you 16ppg every night, but he is still a pretty inconsistent player who doesn't give you much when his shoot is off.

So while I understand the boing, I don't think it was fair to him. He didn't play selfishly or lacked effort. The team on the other hand, go their *** kicked by the Pacers. Taking everything into account, I expect the team (and Hood in particular) to show some pride next game and prove those fans wrong.
How about you weirdos who are defending the booing stop taking sports so seriously?

You do realize its a meaningless game that you are not even playing right?

I dont care how much you paid for your tickets, or how tough you think you are. You are a delusional and an insane jackass. It comes off as uber pathetic. Your only take away from a basketball game should be the impressive things the players can do on both sides, and just enjoy the game. Realistic expectations should be that that sometimes a player will have off games. It happens to even the very best. If you are emotionally involved at all, and it makes you mad that the player isnt playing as good as you want them too, then its you who has the problem. You dont think the player wants to play well? You think your booing is going to help in anyway? Would you boo your own son if that were him out there? Probably not. You'd probably have a whole different perspective on it. But since its not who gives a crap about that person. Right?

Dont cry when players arent loyal either. They know the truth. Fans are fake with their fake love, and are mostly pathetic delusional retards with no talent of their own.

Now go put on another mans jersey and cry like a little girl when the ball doesnt go in the hole. Whaa!

I didn't read though all comments so if this has been said already i am very sorry... But at this point this is becoming the fault of none other then Quin Snyder. As a jazz fan we we love our team with a passion. there is a reason we pay to see the games or post on jazzfanz... this is more than something we enjoy, its a love for a team and being passionate about it!

Hood is having a very rough, and i mean very rough month... But, and it makes me sick to say it because i have disagreed with all of you on Hoods game at one point or another... But Quin is using hood all wrong. its Quins fault hood is struggling and being so un-efficient.

Do we all have rose colored glasses for quin because he was our savior from Tyrone Corbine!?!

I am embarrassed for us as a group that our beloved Spida Mitchell called us out. thats not how one should behave. but what more can you do when you see the poor rotations and border line unwatchable basketball. Last year we played a boring style but we were atleast winning games... this year we play slow and in half the games we arnt even competitive. if the team would just come out and say we are tanking that would be great... i can support a tank, but i cant support this ugly brand of ball!

Quin needs to change his rotations... he is putting players in a position to either fall or step up. and its pretty apparent what is happening for poor hood.

And good for spida in backing up a team mate. i can tell ya, i've been on city league teams where one guy shoots way to much and makes way to little and i have a hard time being a bigger man and saying "keep shooting buddy, they will fall eventually". We don't deserve spida.

Spida is the only bright spot this year, and now the great spida is displeased with us. we should all ask for forgiveness and be better fans.
