Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert tensions are rising

Plenty of teams arent.
They are few, but they are usually perennial winners.

The thing that sets the Suns apart from everyone else is that they have become single-minded professionals, care about every possession, and everyone knows their role and worth.

Also think Booker has been humbled a bit during the losing years. He knows he can't single handedly take a team far. I dont think Mitchell knows that about himself yet.

It helps to have Chris Paul. And a defensive badass like Bridges. And other defensive specialists.

Our perimeter defense is so bad that you could add Scottie Pippen and we still have issues guarding the perimeter.

Hope Donovan and Rudy aren't reading this stuff
Right now it may be just speculation about how they feel about each other
Unless they are reading this stuff :mad::mad::mad::mad:

We don't know what Rudy did in the lockerroom, but it was bad. Other players said that Rudy did something in the lockerroom. We should admire Donovan for not airing that dirty laundry. If Donovan would have been the one to do something, Rudy probably would have told the media.

I agree they are both in the wrong. I have said that.

I'm pretty sure that Donovan aired enough dirty, like, not hiding he had a direct problem with Rudy at all, making it pretty clear. He literally threw his teammate under the world judgment fire.

Could be arguable that whatever Rudy did, it was something that bothered people, especially Mitchell, but you know, once it was all the world falling over Rudy's head, he simply was "yeah, that's nothing to do with me, bye"

Looking into that, i'd say the Jazz, as an organization and a locker room, failed Rudy big time considering how much he did for all of them, failed bigger than the lack of support they provided him across all playoff series. Cause this is the first season you can argue that Mitchell gives you production to sustain long positive minutes without Gobert and generate a solid debate that he's the better Jazz player. So for the Jazz to be who they are now, the playoff team with the expectations they have (that they should be able to do more than the 1st round and a 2nd round embarassment), and the guys be perceived as good as they're right now, a lot goes by how good Rudy is, and how much effort he puts to a playstyle that is basically all about making the whole team better and giving the other guys around him the better position to shine instead of being the super flashy guy. And still is Rudy who comes verbally about wanting it about Utah, when the franchise, not him, is snubbed, among other stuff.

After Rudy talked the perimeter defense actually has been better. Mitchell played the best defense I’ve seen him play in years, maybe ever in the last game. How long has Rudy been playing all the defense by himself? How long has the team been throwing Gobert out to dry because he’s trying to defend against teams by himself. There’s only so much he can take before he explodes. I don’t fault Gobert at all. I say it’s ****ing about time he spoke up and made his teammates uncomfortable.

Could not agree with you more. I can't even imagine how frustrating it would be to bust your *** game in and game out on defense KNOWING your teammates are capable of more, but just aren't up to it? This last week solidifies that. It's within this team to guard better and more consistently on the perimeter. Is it ideal for him to take his frustrations public/to the media? No. But apparently that's what it takes to get a response.

...and to Donovan's credit. He kept his mouth relatively shut and responded with better effort on the floor. Again, not the ideal way for your two superstars to motivate each other, but I like the results. Watching Donovan's energy defensively this last week has been GREAT!

You Sir, are NO idiot !

Don should get what he wants this summer or he will ask for a trade. I hope we trade Rudy this summer.
What does he want? I know he wanted his buddies around like royce and pashcall and he got that already.

Tension isn’t always bad. *shrug*

We probably don’t make it to the end of Donovan’s contract no matter what, so I guess just enjoy the good times.

Depends on the situation. I’ve gotta think Gobert has spoken up multiple times in the confines of the team locker room or practice over the years. At some point you gotta make them listen. Results are all that matter. If you aren’t going to take seriously they constructive criticism behind closed doors serious, then you deserve to have your feelings hurt in public if it gets the job done.
