Yeah but does it make sense for Donovan to wear Dame's shoes for 1 more year when Donovan and the Jazz is a hotter team than Dame and Portland?
 
It's not dissimilar to people being enraged at Justin Bieber getting engaged to Hailey Baldwin and not Selena Gomez. Gomez is still hot, but she no longer hold Justin's interest and had not been for a long time...

Donovan's Jazz finished higher than Portland, took the Jazz to the playoffs and went to the 2nd round. Jazz is the team on the rise while POR is contemplating blowing the team up (rumour).

Shoe deals are a pretty big deal. They’ll be paying Derrick Rose millions for several more years. Companies don’t take these things lightly. Donovan is probably a hotter item than Dame yes, but Dame is a more solidified product. Shoe contracts are generally fairly lengthy and worth a large chunk of change, they aren’t so much a what’s hot this second type thing. Hope it is and DM gets to live that dream. There’s no better ambassador than Donovan. It will sale if he continues on his path no problem.
