don't believe the hype - only Jabari parker is the sure thing

If the OP is going to nitpick about Randle, Wiggins, Gordon, etc, I think it's fair to nitpick about Jabari's weight. At this point, he has the game of a SF, but is pretty thick for an 18 year old and I'm not convinced he can stay with a lot of NBA wings. Who knows, maybe he works hard and keeps his weight where it is or even loses some, but when a kid is that size at 18, I think the weight could be a concern.

Keep in mind, I am indeed nitpicking because I love Parker's game and skill level, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Wiggins will probably be the most athletic player to ever play in the nba.

His athleticism is not overrated

post of the day. that's the most ridiculously false statement i've ever read in any nba forums.

tell the me difference between igoudala and wiggins in terms of natural athleticism. you can't.

Randle won't be a bust IMO... Too good of footwork/offensive ability to be a bust. His footwork on offense is light years ahead of Kanter and Favors

I think he is zach randolph. but i just don't know if his upside is a 'franchise savior'. i can see him being 20/10 guy down the road, but not every 20/10 guy is a franchise player. IMO, we have favors who isn't too far off from randle. i'm just not a big on randle guy. well at least not yet.

I have to see these guys in the tournament. i have to see how they will play when it matters.

Randle is an elite athlete at the 4, where Randolph can't jump over a credit card or beat you in a foot race. Randle is chiseled, while Randolph is the Pillsbury dough boy. Randolph lives off his footwork, soft touch in the face up game and moves around the basket. Randle relies on more of a power game and getting to the FT line. Randle can put the ball on the floor and make plays.

They are both black and left-handed - the similarities may end there.

i'm high on Jabari's overall offensive talent, willingness to learn, being a team player, and his surprisingly quick first step. if wiggins is A in athleticism, IMO jabari is B+ because he clearly carries alot more weight.

my knock on him is of course his defense and his lateral quickness. it just seems that he lacks side to side quickness. but every experts say he is deceptively quickly. maybe it's how his body is built. dude still seem to carry alot of fat and his shoulder is so narrow.

IMO at worst he is 24/5 kinda guy. with his offensive repertoire and smoothness in his game, i'm predicting he is KD like scorer down the road. alot of people say he is more melo, but IMO he lacks melo's overall lower extremity strength and body control. but i think he will become more consistent shooter and will have better range. shorter but thicker KD is what i'm projecting from Jabari.

another similarities i find in randle is elton brand. when healthy and motivated brand was a consistent 20/10 guy. his best was like 24/10 at one point. but was he a franchise changer? no.

and brand was measured at 6ft 8 1/4. and he had 7ft 5 wingspan. many somehow labeled him as an undersized 4. if he is undersized than randle will be too. IMO, franchise changing PFs are barkley, garnett, malone of the world.

if any of you guys think randle is a franchise changer than it means he better be a 26/12.5 type of a player with absolute nastiness in the low post. hopefully he becomes that kinda beast. then it's worth tanking.

Thats because he isnt as skilled as Wiggens and he wasnt the top rated player coming out of college.

Pretty stupid to compare the two situations.

i follow draft pretty hard and also follow high school scene for my michigan

green was 5 star stud. dude had zero offense, but still was rated at 5 star

he is a late bloomer, and maybe he found his home. he is finally learning how to play basketball as of late.

You started this thread by saying that Randle was going to be a bust, then said that you can see him as a 20/10 type player... That would be perfect alongside Favors. You also bring up the point that he is undersized. Barkley was only 6'6 and Malone was 6'9, neither being a "massive" PF. Randle looks like a baller... that's all that matters. And Elton Brand was on some pretty $hitty *** bulls teams and clipper teams for the majority of his prime.

I actually agree with the OP. I started closely following college basketball this season because of all the hype. And I'm confused as to the source of the idea that this draft is full of franchise players. Don't get me wrong, several of those guys can grow into great players, but that can be said about any draft. I really don't see what the fuss is all about.

Parker: The only guaranteed all star, and the only one of the top 5 who will definitely have an immediate impact on whichever team lands him. He is an offensive god. I can't believe how well he scores despite a generally boneheaded shot selection. As his shot selection improves with experience and maturity, he will be unstoppable. But even Parker has a few serious limitations. He is not an impressive athlete. Part of it is because he's a bit chunky, and that's obviously fixable. But some of it will be difficult to fix. Most notably, his terrible lateral quickness, which makes him a liability on the defensive end in certain situations (even though he's a good defender in ways that depend on length).

Wiggins: He's a great athlete, I get it. He's not Lebron James great athlete, but a great athlete nonetheless. But what else? Griffin is a freak athlete. Is that the ceiling we're talking about for Wiggins? Meh. He really doesn't do anything all that well. I understand that he has "potential", but it's just that. The Jazz would have to draft him and develop him over the next 3-4 years. And Hope to keep the players they got now until the time when/if he turns out great. And if he doesn't? Oh well, maybe some other draft will save us.

Randle: By far the most baffling. He kind of sucks. Again, we're talking about a great athlete. But the other day someone on these forums said "he'd immediately be our best big". LOL? His athleticism makes him dominate smaller bigs in the paint. He scores the ball with his left using a couple of predictable moves. Against bigger bigs, watching him is akin to watching a stand-up routine. Getting stuffed, turning the ball over, throwing hilarious shots because he hasn't heard of passing, etc. In addition, I don't think I've ever seen a worse offensive player outside of the 5 foot range. Has he made a mid-range shot this season? This is an honest question, has he scored the ball in any way or shape from more than a few feet out? There are some things I like about him. For example, he moves incredibly well for someone of his size. But overall, I just don't get it.

The Jazz will get a decent pick, and are likely to pick a nice player. Getting Jabari would be nice, but anything from there out is just as risky as most other drafts. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Yes, Randle kind of sucks. 17 ppg 11 rebs, 52% FGs, gets to the line 9 times a game and makes a respectable 74% of his FTs. Oh yes, and he's just a frosh. What sort of production would it take, in your mind, to shed the "kind of sucks" label?
