This draft exceeded all my expectations. It's been a long time since I felt this good about being a Jazz fan.
It exceeded all our expectations.

I have never seen a draft get this much support from jazzfanz. It's amazing.
I mean, I don't think Burke is a bad pick. But for a bad draft, and hearing from multiple people that the PG's in the draft are weak, I just don't see him as a savior or center piece that a lot of people are hyping him to be. I hope I'm wrong. Then again, I may just be forgetting about MoWilliams/Tinsley/Watson.
Great handle, low TO's high Assists, great shooter, spot-up and off the bounce. He's the perfect fit for our team, as well as BPA at #9.
Best of all, he'll bring leadership to the team that's been starving for one for years...
Just to be clear, I think this is how most of us feel.
Just understand that we were projected up until hours before the draft to take Noguiera and Larkin.
We got Burke and Gobert instead. That's pretty sweet.

The Jazz squeezed every ounce of value out of this draft. They traded up to 9 from 14. They replenished their other 1st-round pick by getting 26 for 46 and cash. Then they turn around and get 47 for a future 2nd round pick.
It amounts to getting Trey Burke for 14 + a future 2nd-round pick + some cash.
Has anyone seen Chad Ford's insider draft grade yet?
B+ because he'd rather have McCollum. That's cool. I think Burke fits this team better even if McCollum ends up being better.B+
Analysis: Everyone knew coming into the draft that the Jazz were hunting for a point guard. On Thursday they packaged the Nos. 14 and 21 picks to move up five spots to grab Burke, the college player of the year. With Burke they get a floor general who can excel equally at scoring and getting others involved. He's a little small for his position and lacks elite athleticism, but he plays with a lot of moxie and has the winning credentials that scouts tend to love. I personally prefer C.J. McCollum to Burke. McCollum is a better shooter and scorer and bigger than Burke, but it is close.
As for Gobert, the Jazz also landed a third young big man who happens to be just about the longest player we've ever seen, with a 7-foot-9 wingspan. I'm not sure how ready he is, but the hope is that someday he can turn into a Roy Hibbert-type rim protector.
This draft makes the last 2 years of punishment worth it. Please FO don't **** it up by re-signing any of our vets. Except Carrolle.
