Dudes... The guy we need to Draft is Noah Vonleh

Vonleh is my pick for #5 as well. However, I wouldn't mind dropping to #8 and just taking whoever is left of Vonleh, Randle, Gordon, or smart.

You do realize Gordon is worse then Hayward shooting off the dribble right. He'll never be a good shooter, and has little to no offensive game other then around the basket and slashing, so he will probably shoot a lot of ft's and miss a lot too.

How old is aaron gordon anyway?

I think Vonleh and Gordon both have risks, but of the two Vonleh has less risk. I also think Gordon has more upside.

I agree

Guy is the ultimate Combine/Project player. Didn't score 20 points once this season. Has there ever been a top 5 pick that hasn't scored 20 freaking points in a game? Come on now...

Vonleh averaged 11/9 and shot 52%.
Gordon averaged 12/8 and shot 49.5%.

Gordon broke 20 pts in only 3 of 38 games.

Vonleh just didn't take many shots.

That said, I think Randle and Smart are going to be good pros. It's just the Vonleh has more potential as a shooter out on the floor, and he has more versatility in the paint than Randle due to his length and ability to use both hands.

I'm pretty confident that Vonleh is going to get open looks from 20+ feet and that he's going to knock those shots down. He also has the ability to up-fake and drive to the rim.

Better question is how old is Vonleh? His skill set is more diverse and further developed then Gordon's

I only asked because you made it sound like he was 30 years old and that he can no longer improve

Vonleh is my pick at 5 and the only guy pushing him for the spot is Smart. At least one of the "big 4" will bust and at least one of Vonleh and Smart will be one of the best picks in the class looking back in 5-7 years.

vonleh & stauskas? i'll be happy with that

love to see stauskas rain those 3s for us

But Vonleh creates a logjam upfront. We still have M. Williams remember? If we draft Vonleh one of the bigs is gone. I just don't see how Vonleh is upgrade over Kanter or Favors?

We do? Last I checked, Marvin Williams was an unrestricted free agent. He expressed a desire to return, but nothing was ever promised.
Also, Marvin is NOT a PF. We saw how he wore down. His best success with the Jazz was as a SF.

I just can't believe this continual tripe that drafting Vonleh means Kanter or Favors is gone. That is a LIE. Did playing Marvin at the 4 mean the Jazz had to trade Kanter or Favors? Last time I checked, Favors got 30/per; Kanter 27 and Marvin 25. Evans played in 66 games (18 mins/per) and Gobert in 45 (10 mins).

Vonleh is a project, just like Gordon. And Gobert is still a project. Both of those players would be fine at 18 mins/per next season. That leaves 30 mins for both Favors AND Kanter. And that's assuming all 4 players play in all 82 games. Assorted injuries always happen; only RJ played in 82 games last season. So any games missed increases the overall minutes/per for the remaining trio and allows a guy like Jeremy Evans to get some time. No, an 18 year old Vonleh isn't an improvement in Oct 2014 over Enes who now has three years of experience. And if that were to change in a year or two, then great, the Jazz have upgraded the position. If not, Vonleh continues to come off the bench. Or if Enes wants too much to re-sign? Then you're back to a 3-man rotation.

It's the exact same scenario with Gordon. Is he better than Hayward on Day #1? Or Smart. Is he better than Burke? Any draft pick is going to come in and create competition. If Enes or Trey or Hayward can't beat out a rookie, then do we really want them? Competition makes people better or exposes them.

Elephant in the living room says:

If the Jazz draft Noah Vonleh at #5, they could potentially trade Favors and give more minutes to Gobert at the center spot. It's possible that Favors could yield another pick at #4 or #6 in the draft, enabling the Jazz to draft Dante Exum or Marcus Smart. That puts 5 shooters on the floor potentially.

Result:

Kanter / Gobert
Vonleh / Evans
Hayward / Evans
Burks / Hayward
Exum / Burke
