Durant withdraws from world cup

I don't know but this Durant news is great for Gordon. Fat contracts from Under Armour and broken ankles are clearing the way for G-Time to have a real role on this team. It's almost as if, I don't know, GOD was clearing the way for him.

Are you believers yet? God is REAL. GOD IS GORDON.

But wouldn't it be really useful?

I think if you wanted it too, we could have it. I feel like you have an influence on Jason so you could help convincing him.
If I were as loaded as him, I would buy enough share for this site to become a secret co-owner of the site just for the heck of it, since I spend so much time in it. By staying low profile, I could hang around as I can without the second thoughts for anything.

He already might have done that though.

bad news.
I was hoping Hayward would not put himself in jeopardy (by being cut), by playing non-stellar FIBA-ball against floppers.
such an unnecessary risk

Well, this certainly could be the nail in the coffin for the USA to win Gold. It was going to be tough to win with Love, Durrant, George and now all three are not on the team. I think the rest of the world is feeling emboldened by these recent happenings. I can understand Durrant being tired but Geez did he just get tired all of a sudden or did George's injury freak him out enough to make him change his mind.

I am 50/50 on Hayward playing. I thought he was going to get cut but now it looks like he is going to make the team. I hope he doesn't get tired out during the year.

Might be worse for Hayward actually. I saw Locke touched on it, but the absence of Durant might make Team USA more conscious of keeping extra offensive players. Dudes like Cousins/Derozan might have a better chance now. It all depends on how USA wants their roster.

As far as us winning, I don't think Durant not playing is a huge deal. I think the biggest thing is our lack of front-court vs teams who have talented bigs. Confident USA will still win though. Have you seen Derrick Rose highlights from the scrimmage? Dude might still be the fastest player despite the injuries.

I have not seen those highlights but this makes me happy.

Rose is SO fun to watch play when healthy. So good for the league overall

Thank you sir!

He looks every but as fast as ever but it seems like he might have lost a little bit of hops. (To be expected though I guess)

USA Basketball National Team Managing Director Jerry Colangelo today announced that 2010 USA World Championship Team gold medalists Rudy Gay (Sacramento Kings) has been added to the 2014 USA National Team and 2014-16 USA National Team rosters. Gay and USA Basketball’s 15 other National Team finalists will resume preparations for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup Aug. 14-16 with a training camp in Chicago.

"I received a call last night indicating that Rudy was available to join the National Team if Coach K and I felt he could help," said Colangelo. "We both felt he would be a valuable addition because of his outstanding skills and the fact that he is so familiar with USA Basketball and our national team program. Rudy has been an integral member of USA Basketball since 2005 and was a tremendous contributor to our 2010 World Championship Team. He has a lot of equity in the USA Basketball National Team."

“I am extremely excited to once again be part of Team USA and its rich tradition,” said Gay. “I can’t wait to join my teammates in Chicago and work hard to make certain the USA takes home the gold in Spain.”

The 16 USA finalists will resume training in Chicago with practices Aug. 14-15 at the Quest Multisport Complex, and will play an exhibition contest versus Brazil at the United Center on Aug. 16 (8 p.m. CDT).

USA National Team finalists include DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings); Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors); Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans); DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors); Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons); Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets); Gay; (Houston Rockets); Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz); Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers); Kyle Korver (Atlanta Hawks); Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers); Chandler Parsons (Dallas Mavericks); Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn Nets); Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls); and Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors).
