Dwill's Blog

Never said anything like "I want to retire here"

Durant and Rose make comments like that all the time.

So did Karl Malone. Take those comments for what they are worth. Less than a roll of TP.
In essence, Karl did retire with the Jazz. He stuck through many "mini-rebuilding" phases when the Jazz worked in new centers, guards or small forwards. It was with the blessing of Miller and Sloan that he left to play 1-2 years to pursue a championship and the scoring record, as it was very clear the next rebuilding phase would take more years than he and Stockton had left.

Karl was the one who screwed up his opportunity with the Lakers by making a play for Kobe's wife. Had it not been for that - and probably the resulting backlash from his own wife and family - I'll bet Malone would have played 2-3 more years with LA and gotten 1-2 rings and retired with the career scoring record.

You mean about Karl and Vanessa?
Here it is...Karl asked Vanessa if she liked him, asked her to come up to where he was sitting and give him a hug, and then said to her "I'm hunting little Mexican girls." Never denied by Karl and I have a hard time believing you say and do those kind of things unless you are seriously flirting and want some action if you can get it. And why would you do that with the wife of a good friend (well, at the time)?

You have to add this one to Karl's track record, having fathered Daryl and Cheryl Ford and abandoning them until the age of 17. I'll bet that was only because Cheryl was an accomplished bball player. And completely abandoning Demetrius Bell, who he never spoke to at all. Yep, Karl is definitely one of the best NBA players of all times, but he is one lousy human being, at least when it comes to taking responsibility for his *!&^%$ and the baby mamas he left behind. Yes, way to go Karl. You impreganted a 13 year old when you were a sophomore in college. Kudos to you!

We'll see how they respond to their respective teams falling apart if/when that happens. Deron's too smart/honest to make statements about an uncertain future.

Fail.
Deron Williams and Chris Paul still believe in their silly little heads that max paid point guards can win you championships.

I think this is by far and away the most important part of Deron's blog:

FB: How do u get your beard looking fresh? - Gabriel Rodriguez

DW: I have a great barber. His name is Nixon Pierre and I'm going to see him while I'm in Utah. I have a good barber in Jersey too, but Nixon is my guy. Whenever I have something important, he's going to be there.

Everyone knows that once you have a good barber you stick with him.

A lot of you are missing a large part about the human condition. If the Nets got to a level this year similar to what Utah was when Dwill left, he'd resign in an instant, because there would be a jump in production. To say 'Dwill would have stayed here because they were a playoff tean and the Nets aren't' is a lie. He wouldn't have. Why? Because Utah was /complacent/. They were good, but they were the same level every year. And honestly complacency does more to wreck a person's psyche than all out crappiness.
