Earl was horrible tonight

Earl was so bad for most of the time he was out there he almost cost us the game. I hope this isn't the start of DNPs for Tinsley because it's pretty clear who is the better player.

I loved the play where Earl broke up a 3-on-1, dove on the floor for the loose ball and started a fastbreak in the opposite direction that Burks eventually converted, but other than that as a PG he left alot to be desired. Obviously you 'd expect him to be rusty although at this point I think Earl should be the 3rd PG. Tinsley has done a fantastic job running the offense and has earned the backup spot in relief of Harris. The only reason I'm not getting too freaked out about Watson's sudden return to the rotation is, perhaps Ty felt the Jazz needed Earl's energy (after the marathon in Atl) and defense (as much as I like Tinsley, Deron could score 57 on him) in this game more than the rthym and flow Tinsley provides offensively.

If we're going to get where we hope to get in the last month of the regular season, imo we're going to need Earl at some point so hopefully Ty just saw tonight as an opportunity to get Earl back into some live action.

Watson's first significant minutes after re-injuring an ankle fairly severely. Not the best way to gauge who the backup should be.

Im totally fine with alternating minutes between the two, as long as we keep winning. A healthy Earl Watson is much better than some of you think; not saying better than Tinsley, but hey, each point guard offers a different skill set, so adjust their minutes according to which team we are matching up with.

I think Evans should always sub with Earl to start just to get the ball rolling. I know the rotation can't be 12-13 deep, but I think it would help him get his game back.

I wouldn't mind, given Harris continuing to play good, moving Devin over to the off guard for a bit to get both guys playing, assuming moving him over comes only at the expense of CJ and Raja's minutes. Obviously, this would never happen but it would certainly give minutes to the guys that should get minutes.

People love Earl because of the competitive fire inside of him. That being said, offensively, he is too hesitant to create any moves himself. His three point shots are terrible, but they are usually forced because of the shot clock. In fact, I get more mad when CJ takes his fade away threes. I know Earl will bounce back, he's the BULLDOG!

The Jazz blew the huge lead when Watson was in. When he went out, the Jazz went on a 15-3 run or something. Tinsley needs to be the 2nd point guard. Watson has been horrible since his injury

Earl played because Tinsley is sucky gaurding Deron.
Earl just ran the offense poorly.

Tinsley runs it good, but Deron would go off on him.

It wasn't long ago Watson was being considered by Jazzfanz as a starter. An instant fan favorite.

Now he's just trash huh.

Tinsley is clearly the #2.

Watson has been over-rated on this board since day 1 because our standards have been systematically lowered over the years by horrible journeymen PG's (list too numerous to mention).

I think you bring Watson off the bench to make the occassional hustle play - particularly on the road.

On this we agree. Come on. Earl ran this team very well up until last night. He put his heart into every minute. Pretty sad to see the mutiny against him. I also agree Tinsley is a beter player, but to disregard what Watson brought to the team is sad.

just because he "was being considered by Jazzfanz as a starter" and now he's "trash" doesn't mean this is an over reaction.
It just means he was being wildly overrated before. He should have never been in consideration to be a starter.
Sure he's in a particularly bad slump right now, but it's not like Earl Watson was ever a good PG...he has always been average at BEST.
He's a mediocre PG who's at his best when not in a full time role. Always has been, always will be.

Which is why he is a very good backup, always has been (sans Indy) He was never going to be a starter For the jazz and to be honest never understood why he and Harris were splitting minutes. It's just typical Ty the turd b.s.
