Who is going to the All-Star game next year?

So pick your top 3. Which ones have the best shot of going to the All-Star game next year? Who will at least receive consideration, or who will deserve to go? Please pick only 3.

I am going with the easy picks: Hayward, Favors and Gobert. I think Hood may be a dark-horse candidate if he can maintain the same level of play he ended the season with.

Hood still worries me a little. I think he may struggle at the beginning of next year. He played a lot this year as "the man." I think he may struggle when his shots go down as he plays next to Favors, Hayward, Burks and hopefully Exum (as Exum becomes more aggressive).

Will Hood still be effective if he only gets 6-8 shots a game? I think so, but I could see it taking half a season to get used to it.

Our all star next year will be Favors. Hayward will be a borderline allstar.

No one from the Jazz because of fan voting. People like Kobe will be voted in despite terrible play. That limits the slots that the right players deserve and the Jazz will get shafted another year.

I would be stunned if the Jazz get three All-Stars. The only way it happens is if they're leading the Western Conference at the All-Star break.

Hayward-Rudy-Burks. Because Fave's contribution will not be enough for All-Star but enough for the Jazz.

And I couldn't pick Burks three times.

How can Favors' production not be enough but Gobert's will be? Doesn't make any sense.

It does actually. Because Gobert's production will probably be a sweet looking double double and he will have a lot of flashy dunks and blocks and maybe some assists with an obvious live fire burning inside him in games, an attitude that feeds the karma of a star.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to addictionary again.

He gets it.

Serious? a 12 and 10 will look better than 20 and 8? Um. No.

Gobert's per 36 is 11 pts and 12 rebs. We all want Exum to shoot more, and Burks will shoot more, and somehow Gobert will shoot more as well?

So, if you are Snyder, you will funnel more shots to Gobert, instead of Burks, Favors and Hood?

No. No you will not.

Gobert will not be an allstar next year. He isn't good enough offensively. We aren't in the East. You have to score 20 per night if you want to be an allstar in the west.

Favors averaged 17 after the Kanter trade. Much easier for him to go form 17 to 20 than Gobert going from 8 to 20. Or 12 to 20.

I expect that for sure.

Why are you including only Exum and Burks? For example, Burks shots could be more at expense of Ingles/Milsap/D Leaguers and Dante's at the expense of Trey. And certainly Gobert's will go up in the absence of ~60% of a season playing with Enes.

Gobert's FGA per 36 is 7.1 and I'd be surprised if it did not go up to at least 8. I expect 12-14 points/ 36 from Rudy.

Yep, just like Gasol (17.4), Duncan (14) and Dirk (17.3)

Compared to Gobert's 12? Like I said, I really think Favors jumps up to 20 per game. Gobert's per/36 puts him at 11. Lets say he gets up to 15. Is he going to get in over Gasol's 17? Duncan's 17? Dirk's 17? Heck, Favors 17?

Gobert will not be an all star next year. His game doesn't get picked for all star games. Especially in the stacked west. It's not a knock on Gobert. It is what it is. He is a defensive giant. Those don't go to all star games in the west.

Go back to last season. How many time do you recall the media, fans, and even other teams talking about how often Rudy changed the game almost by himself?

Now how many times did they say that about Favors?

Exactly.

I think Hayward is getting a lot of respect around the league, If he bumps his average up to 20 pts/per he should be selected. Gobert does things that get noticed. He could get in on 12/15/3. Favors will have a tougher time. There are a lot of great PF's and he gets his numbers quietly.

Damn. Picked Burke. Meant to select Burks. Lol

Nope, too late. You picked Burke. I now fully expect you to pick him for your Jazzfanz All-NBA Draft too. That will be sweet revenge over beating me last year.

The point is that you said that you must score 20 per game to make the AllStar team in the West, which is not even close to true.

Name me a dominant rim protector/ All-NBA defender in the west in the last 10 years who averaged 15 ppg and did not make the AS team. Here is a clue: Ibaka ~12 ppg, Chandler ~ 10 ppg., Camby ~10ppg. Go back a bit further and find Ben Wallace made 4 AS teams averaging less than 10 (yes, not in the West and yes, on great teams, but it is not as if the bigs he was competing with were that far from the current west stock of bigs).

I think the better question is: "will he average 15 ppg" which is questionable. But if he does and he performs as expected on defense, it is not a ridiculous notion that he would make an AS team and an all-NBA team.
