Nobody smart was saying that and Zion was the no brainer number one pick. He’s a freak. Are we back to Udoka being Shaq?

Homie wait a minute... just wait a minute... we definitely bringing in a vet on top of it. Not a just in case vet... a vet that will be our backup on opening night.

Exactly. So much time spent on the position that means the least in the NBA playoffs. The Lakers spent $6 million combined on McGee and Dwight (their primary and backup C) last year yet barely even played them in the Finals. Centers, especially backup centers, are not worth the effort we have put into them. In the last 4 drafts, we have spent 2 1sts and 3 2nds on this position.
 
Udoka gonna be a better version of Bismack Biyombo someday... the current version of Biyombo can be had for a minimum contract.

Feels kind of racist. Biyombo has always been a terrible finisher w/ no post skills to speak of.

I can guarantee that Udoka will comfortably clear 60% this year, something Biyombo has only done once in his career.
 
We talk about the value of picks and how drafting a big is not a good use of an asset since the NBA is moving away from bigs.

But that also means bigs who are very good are going to get undervalued. It's what happened with Gobert and maybe Utah was able to recognize similiar indicators in Udoka.

It's pretty funny because Udoka has the 3 main factors that lead to being dismissed: 4 year senior, defensive player, and true center. I wrote him off pre-draft for the those three thigs without really giving him much of a chance, so I wonder if that's the case for a lot of the NBA, leading to his true value being underappreciated.

*And yes I know everyone is going to respond with what about Bradley, but iirc Bradley was more based on analytic numbers*

I will call it. Udoka will be poor man's Shaq. Would Shaq suck in the league today if he was a rookie? I would say no to a Vet, man, and I just say let it rip, is what I would want -- if you are too careful and you take away challenges sometimes you don't get the best results -- Rudy is the Vet. He would adjust and you can get another Vet later if it is a disaster. Put the pressure on the rook, I think he will deliver.

Unless, if you can get Udoh for cheap, I will change my mind only slightly....

Wow! Racist huh. Please find one other person on the board who feels I’ve said anything remotely racist. I’m gonna need an apology or at least some back tracking there my dude.

it could be that I’m racist or that I was trying to find a comparison of a big that is a rim protector that struggles with free throws shooting, ball handling and passing that is also a free agent... but sure it was totally racist.

Yeah well you were defending the Bradley pick and threw out a ridiculous poor mans Aldridge comp and were dead *** wrong. Not surprising you think management has some inefficiency they have identified.

Yeah, I'm not always right. It happens. I thought Bradley would develop skill to make up for his complete lack of athletic ability, but it never happened.
