So you're not getting the big picture here: Centers with no ball skills are abundant and you can grab them for the league minimum. Whether we got good Ed Davis or bad Ed Davis doesn't change that it a bad use of resources, whether Tony Bradley was better than he was or worse doesn't change that we burned assets to get and develop him when we didn't have to.

To follow what HH just said: Davis has always been dreck in the PnR.

I really wish we could just sign 2 Goberts for league minimum and let ours walk.

Rookies this year will struggle even more. No training camp, no summer league, and many haven't played much this year.

I get the critisim over drafting Bradley etc and losing 2nd rounders to get rid of him. But I don't remember a collective meltdown here when we signed Ed year ago. I think nobody was expecting him to suck that bad. So it's a pity we re losing minor assets to get rid of him but that kind of **** happens.

Sure. This is easy money. How much do you want to bet that the jazz are going to use the MLE on another center?

They won’t use full MLE but I bet they go find something better than a minimum guy... and I’ll bet that guy becomes the backup center over Udoka... which is basically what I’ve been bitching about that we used our first to draft a 3rd string center... again.

I would rather Dok be the guy from day one. He's a four year college athlete. The drop big is not super complicated. I think he could do backup duties from day one. I want him to learn through mistakes. Just get a veteran 4 or wing to get us more impactful talent.

Pretty sad with all the assets we used (3 2nd rounders) to dump contracts (Ed and TB) that we still won't be able to use the full MLE.

Conley has destroyed our financial flexibility. I'm not a fan of having Conley AND Clarkson especially if they are costing us around $50 million this year. Neither are starters for us.

No one runs more handoffs and screens than us and the center is in the middle of that... homeboy is used to sitting his *** in the post and he will do literally none of that in the nba... so is he going to be some savant that picks it up without a summer league or are you going to put him in the dunkers spot and just let JC cook without a pick. Also drop big is still hard to figure out... you have to rotate unless he’s playing a zone. You are over simplifying.

The thought process was just so bad... if you have a center that you love that will be around you only draft another center if:

1- they are clearly the best player on the board and you think they will be a star.

2- you think you will need a starting center in 1-2 years. If you are drafting for need you look 1-2 years out... what do we need 1-2 years out? Do we need a Joe or Mike replacement more or a backup center?

I am not sure which fact pattern bothers me more... that they think they need a backup center in a year or two and are drafting for that need or that they think this was clearly the best player available.

Okay but guys with size that dominate in college are playing against rosters with skinny unskilled 6’9” guys. You ain’t running guys over like you did before. He won’t even get it in the post and will be a turnover machine if he does.

I’m not talking about this pick for a few days until everyone sees that we brought in a vet to play over this kid... let’s just hit pause here.

Then we are trading Rudy and it would make sense..... but also.... everything we have heard has been that we are bringing him back and our front office would rather run **** into the ground before making a pivot move so I think it is HIGHLY unlikely that was the thinking.
