how are you disappointed with anyone when the season hasn't started yet
Ekpe was only 3rd string because we had 2 starting centers. Davis would be as well if we still had Favors. Not a good argument.Davis hasn't shown anything yet with the Jazz because he's played exactly zero meaningful minutes with the Jazz. There's a reason he's one of the most coveted backup centers in the league, whereas Ekpe, much as I loved him, was never more than 3rd string even with the Jazz.
And if we're comparing to Gobert: Davis outrebounded him by 2.5 per 36 last season (and outrebounded Ekpe by 7 per 36).
Ed Davis is basically superior in ever statistical category.
Yes, just think about it when Ekpe played. Did we ever lose ground? He always seemed to hold his own and he was very good on defense. I don't understand the hate for Ekpe. Maybe Davis is better but Ekpe was certainly not terrible.I honestly thought the same thing.
Then I looked up their stats per 36 and found that epke is the better scorer, rebounder, and passer. With better efficiency.
I was quite surprised

I've noticed that I am not the only one who has been disappointed with Ed Davis. He has absolutely no offensive game and while he can rebound, he's not very strong and not a great rim protector.
Do others feel that maybe Ekpe would be a better option. Based on what I've seen of Davis, Ekpe is not only better offensively, but far superior on the defensive end, adding another rim protector to Rudy, especially if Rudy has foul trouble or is injured. In fact, Ekpe is nearly the equal of Rudy as a shot blocker.
Thoughts?
You need to check those stats again. Three of them are correct, but Epke is nowhere near the rebounder Davis is.
I stand corrected. Davis 12 rebounds and epke 10. But ya, everything else (points, assists, blocks, efficiency) is all epke and by a wider margin.

Oh ****. That's some damn fine rebounding. It's 17 vs. 10. I think you were looking just at defensive boards for Davis, rather than total.
