Enes kanter will be traded

Damn. The script is changing.

Props to Kanter for playing well tonight. He gets rewarded with the PT.

Favors foul trouble is the reason for increased minutes to kanter tbh...... If favors is not in foul trouble then kanter gets his normal 15-20 minutes whether he played well or not.

I have been a big time corbin hater but honestly since we have been healthy he has done a pretty good job with the rotations.

I think that kanter should start and play lots of minutes but that is just cause i dont care (and actually prefer) about losses. Ty does and probably should, therefore playing marvin over kanter makes sense.

I like the way he is using jeremy evans, and he is playing favors, burke and hayward just the right amount imo.

The one issue i have is that burks still gets jerked around with his minutes no matter how he plays.... which is one reason why starting is important.
Starters generally get consistent minutes while bench players minutes are always changing.

Burks had the best stretch of his career recently (and one of the best stretches of any player on this team) and now in the last two games his minutes were 16 and 23.
Last night he shot 50% from the field with 5 assists and was +1 in those 23 minutes but his minutes get decreased for richard jefferson

Now marvin might be a perfect fit for this team in future years and he is still in his prime so playing him over kanter makes sense (especially with kanters poor play)

Jefferson is pretty old and has already said he wants to chase a title so he wont be around in the future...... add in the fact that alec burks is probably the better player of the two already and it seems like a no brainer to give burks 30 minutes every game and decrease jeffersons minutes significantly

A couple things:

1. Kanter played from the 2:26 to the 0:14 mark of the 2nd. He played from the 7:01 mark of the 3rd. Through 3 quarters, he was basically given an additional 6 minutes due to Favors foul trouble (compared to the regular substitution patterns since Enes's last start, a stretch of 10 games).

2. Kanter and Favors played together from 5:28 to 1:37 of the 4th. It was the first time in the last 10 games (since Enes's last start) that the two had played together in the 4th. Before last night, over the 9 games since Enes's last start, other than in the blowout loss to Atlanta (Kanter played the whole 4th and Favors sat the whole 4th in that game), Favors subbed in for Kanter in each 4th quarter (somewhere between the start of the quarter and the 6:07 mark).

Had Kanter not been given the additional 6 minutes in the first 3 quarters, maybe he doesn't show enough to Corbin to get extended 4th quarter minutes with Favors. I don't agree with that assessment, and think Corbin played Enes because he's the only Jazz big who can bang with Blake (Marvin tried to defend him for stretches earlier in the game...) and because Kanter was clearly engaged/focused/motivated and physical.

He is doing a decent job but why do burks minutes go down when he is playing the best ball of his career? Seems odd to me.
I'd guess Alec didn't play much in the 4th because Corbin went big, playing Enes with Favors, and thought having an additional shooter on the court (RJ shooting .430 from 3 this season) was more important than having an additional ball handler. Favors subbed in (to play with Kanter) at the same time Alec subbed out (Jefferson had subbed in earlier in the quarter). Burks played 31 minutes against the Lakers.

Maybe you decrease his minutes a little then, sure i get that
but 16 against memphis and 23 last night is a bit too much just for matchups imo. Plus last night burks was playing quite well (though so was jefferson)....If they are both playing well then i would think that you go with burks since he is under contract next year and jefferson has publicly stated that he wants to sign on with a contender and go after a ring so he wont be back.

But i do think corbin still thinks of vets as a safer bet (security blanket) in close games and so his instinct is to go with jefferson over burks. He is defaulting to vets less though.

Also i think corbin really really likes jefferson, and in interviews i have heard he does seem like a great guy, and has never been a big fan of burks so it makes some sense why he would choose jefferson over burks. I just dont like it.

Ya it was probably just coincedence that kanters minutes went way up when favors got in foul trouble.
Im sure corbin planned on giving kanter over 30 minutes all along due to matchups.

Your own admission that Corbin is using vets less [as the younger guys have grown better] shatters this cliché that has tirelessly stuck to Corbin from day one.

Bottom line is fans way overestimated the talent in a few young guys and haven't been honest with themselves about it yet.

The problem isn't that Burks and Jefferson were playing well. It was that Hayward who sucked it up last night like most nights he touches the floor stole Burks minutes in the 4th and he didn't do anything. I'm ok with it because I root for the tank. But, have you noticed how we are always trying to make Hayward the go to guy. Why not Burke or Burks in the forth give them the game winning opportunities.

I dont think he is using vets less as the young guys have gotten better

I think he is using vets less as the vets have turned into john lucas, mike harris, andres biedrins, richard jefferson, dionte garrett, jeremy evans and the rest of the roster surrounding the Core 4...... oh and he still isn't playing kanter and burks as much as he actually should be.

Has he improved on his vet love? sure..... but its still a problem. Just gets complained about less now because its not as bad as was when it got complained about alot more often + plus he has less decent vets to turn too.

Trade biedrins, lucas, evans for heinrich, landry, tony allen and say bye bye to minutes for burks, hayward, favors, and kanter.

Evans is one of the vets? I don't even know why I come here anymore.

There's always a way to spin it; I didn't think taking credit away from Burks' growth would be the angle taken.
