I'm listening to the hoops collective and they are talking about expansion. If the expansion draft was today which 8 players on the Jazz would you protect?

Is that worth it's own thread?

I would protect Lauri, Kessler, Keyonte, Cody, Sexton, Hendricks, Collier, and .... Flip.

I guess it's really comes down to Flip vs Brice.

Again, what makes you to be so sure about it? Do you have a lot of first-hand knowledge about the life of the NBA players? Where all of this certainty is coming from?

If you are talking specifically about the millionaires I know really well two of them (my relatives). One is a business owner and he is not spending that much time in office: he travels a lot with friends and family year-round - for fun and expensive hobbies. Another one, a successful corporate lawyer, is damn sure to not show up at work at any time during his time off: he spends it at his second and third houses enjoying life (as a corporate lawyer he also works mostly 9-to-5 unlike the poor souls at law firms).

Wouldn't protect Sexton?

Probably wouldnt. Would kind of suck to lose him, but I'd rather keep the lottery tickets open that are young rookie contract players vs keeping a guy who probably wont be here in 2 years.

I can see the logic there.

I just think we are going to need to move on from some of our young guys sooner than later and it feels like an extremely low probability that Brice turns in to anything special. I am still hopeful if we need to move on from Sexton that we can get something for him.

That's the main thing. If sexton isn't part of the future plans then cool. Trade him for some good stuff. Don't lose him for nothing in an expansion draft though.

The expansion draft kind of guarantees you lose something for nothing. So really you are just trying to minimize the value of what you are losing.

Brice might surprise us. I think we are a bit reactionary to his bad TOs in SL, but he won't be having that much usage in his actual role he can succeed in.
