Ersan Ilyasova to sign with Jazz per Jordan Schultz

I mean, Quin jettisoned Green and gave his minutes to Niang.

And most everybody here bitched about it. . .
After staying with Green for a while... and they released Green rather than keeping him as injury insurance. They didn't want to throw him at the end of the bench... they brought in Tucker and Morgan for that... so now we bring in Ersan... to not play him?

I'm fine with the move... If I were Niang I'd be looking over my shoulder though.

Hopefully it will serve as some motivation. We desperately need 1 on 1 defense against the bigger wings, this is the main weakness we have, so maybe this will spark a few of our guys to toughen up a bit and do the dirty work, I don't know.

I just really wish we had Jerami Grant. We would be a lock

Both Royce and Niang ought to be swallowing hard right now. Compare out new player's stats last year with the Bucks with theirs currently and it isn't a fair fight if the new guy is not totally out of shape.

Multiple people acting like the Jazz are gonna sign a guy who hasn't worked out or done drills for four months. He's been working out as I'm sure most guys who want to get signed are.

When in the last 5-6 years did you have an established successful rotation where someone more experienced has disrupted the rotation?

Which "less proven players" in the rotation are getting their minutes cut, in your opinion? What is the new rotation?

He'll take garbage time minutes from Morgan, Brantley and Niang

He'll get minutes when Favors/ Niang/ Gobert/ Bogey/ Ingles are injured/ resting/ COVID/ unavailable. Jazz have been very lucky to have few absences.

If he's in the "non-absence" rotation I would be surprised.

He's an insurance policy because our 10-15 bench is very inexperienced and you want to be able to plug in a vet in the playoff race and playoffs
This is precisely where I’m at.

Jerry needed to see the undentable warrior in your soul. If he didn’t see it (e.g. Koufos), then you didn’t have his trust, and so you would get doghoused.

it’s rare for a rookie to show you something like that.

I'm old enough to remember Jerry giving Shandon Anderson a lot of Jeff Hornacek's minutes. . .in the playoffs even.
Your point is good but Shandon took minutes from Chris Morris... not from Jeff.

None of these Sloan examples were Sloan trusting a rookie in place of an established vet realistically. And it was what, 2 over a 20+ year career? Not like that makes much of a trend. Sloan just wasn't prone to put rookies ahead of vets in most scenarios.
