What's new

EuroBasket Thread

I have seen a lot of Markannen and Fontecchio highlights. Our guys have been cooking.

Markkanen is the 3rd leading scorer and Fontecchio is the 6th leading scorer.

But the story of the tournament in my mind is Aleksandar Vezenkov of Bulgaria - he was a second round pick of the Nets in 2017, but i believe the Kings have his rights currently. Second leading scorer (behind Giannis), second in efficiency (the way it's measured in fiba) behind Giannis, and is leading the tournament in rebounds. You're talking about a 3/4 type who is strong enough to lead this tournament in rebounds and he's shooting 43% from three on 7 attempts per game. He's been the second best player in the tournament overall. when you consider the talent in that tournament, that is insane. dude is a beast. need to get him over here.

Isn't he incredibly unathletic? I remember the Vezenkov draft hype being that he was hyper talented but his body never projected to be NBA quality.

I think there's a lot of players in Europe who could conceivably make an NBA team if the circumstances were right. But there's sure a big difference between them and those players who are legit NBA rotation players/starters, like Markkanen (and hopefully Fontecchio).

Yep... he's very... vertically challenged. But he's very skilled and... crafty. No idea who he guards in the league... but offensively he can hang IMO. Lightening quick release on the shot. High %s. Good handle and overall skill, especially for the size. I just really don't think you can play him on defense in today's league.

Too bad he doesn't seem interested in coming over to the NBA. He's had a few chances already and every time it seems like he's using the NBA for negotiating leverage with his Euro club.

Wonder in a situation like this whether Bogey and Fontecchio acknowledged each other as new NBA teammates (for the time being) during this game?
I just watched a replay of game six of the Dallas series. I think I’m gonna cry when Bogey is traded because he was by far our most clutch performer last season. (Unfortunately the refs hate him or he might be a superstar in this league.)
